Donning Procedure

NOTICE
Donning the device incorrectly may cause delay when using the
oxygen self-rescuer in emergencies.
Be sure to perform the following steps in the described sequence.

All Devices

• Pull the opener upwards
until the straps fall away.
• Remove and dispose of the
lid.
• Grasp the yellow neck strap and pull the oxygen self-rescuer out
of the housing.
Do not use the hose to pull the oxygen self-rescuer out of the hous-
ing.
Otherwise, the oxygen self-rescuer could be damaged and may not
supply enough breathing air.
• Hold the oxygen self-res-
cuer so that the breathing
bag points away from the
body.
• Put the neck strap around
your neck.
NOTICE
Perform the next steps for donning within about 20 seconds.
Donning the Facepiece
Donning Devices with Mouthpiece and Starter
• Bring the mouthpiece up to your face.
In doing so, the mouthpiece cap is removed from the mouthpiece.
The starter pin is pulled out of the oxygen self-rescuer.
• Place the mouthpiece in your mouth.
In doing so, ensure that the breathing hose is not twisted.
The rubber piece should sit between the teeth and the lips.
• Cover the mouthpiece tightly with your lips.
• Press the nose clip open
with one hand and place it
on the nose.
The nose must be closed
tightly.

WARNING
NOTICE
The oxygen from the starter flows into the breathing bag within
1 to 2 minutes. However, the breathing bag does not fill completely.
If necessary, use your hands to help unfold the breathing bag.
• If the breathing bag does not fill, breath out powerfully two or three
times to fill the breathing bag.
• Hold the oxygen self-res-
cuer under the device and
pull on the end of the neck
strap in order to pull the oxy-
gen self-rescuer upwards.
Position the oxygen self-
rescuer in front of your chest
and do not pull it too high.
The device must not pull on
the mouthpiece.
• Remove corrective glasses
if necessary.
• If necessary, release the goggles from the button strap and put
them on.
• Put the chest strap around your body and close it.
• Tighten the chest strap.
Donning Devices with Mouthpiece (Without Starter)
• Bring the mouthpiece up to your face.
In doing so, the mouthpiece cap is removed from the mouthpiece.
• Place the mouthpiece in your mouth.
In doing so, ensure that the breathing hose is not twisted.
The rubber piece should sit between the teeth and the lips.
• Cover the mouthpiece tightly with your lips.
• Use 2 or 3 powerful breaths to fill the breathing bag. If necessary,
use your hands to help unfold the breathing bag.
• Press the nose clip open
with one hand and place it
on the nose.
The nose must be closed
tightly.
• Hold the oxygen self-res-
cuer under the device and
pull on the end of the neck
strap in order to pull the oxy-
gen self-rescuer upwards.
Position the oxygen self-
rescuer in front of your chest
and do not pull it too high.
The device must not pull on
the mouthpiece.
• Remove corrective glasses if necessary.
• If necessary, release the goggles from the button strap and put
them on.
• Put the chest strap around your body and close it.
• Tighten the chest strap.
