Electrical installation
Disconnect the entire equipment from power
supply!
Otherwise the machine could start during the
ACHTUNG
installation.
The configurable safety controller MSI 400 conforms to
EMC-regulations according to EN 61000-6-2 for the
industrial environment.
The cabinet respectively the installation housing for the
configurable safety controller MSI 400 must have a
protection degree of IP 54 or more.
Installation according to EN 50274
Electrical installation according to EN 60204-1
To guarantee the EMC the DIN-rail has to be connected to
the functional earth.
All modules of configurable safety controller MSI 400, the
external EMC-protection and all power supplies have to be
connected to the same ground potential (GND).
The external voltage supply of the modules has to
bridgeover a short voltage drop of 20 ms according to
EN 60204.
The voltage supply has to meet the regulations for safety
extra low voltage (SELV, PELV) according to EN 60664 and
DIN 50178.
UL 508: The modules must be supplied by an isolated
voltage source with a maximum secondary voltage of 42.4
VDC and fused such that the maximum power cannot
exceed 100 VA. The fuse shall be either UL listed or
recognized in accordance with UL 248. All supply inputs
shall be connected to the same source.
The wiring (e.g. for the reset) has to be passed in a
screened and sheathed cable.
All switching elements connected to the system MSI 400
and all PLC next in line and the wiring have to be
implemented in accordance with the required safety
categories or safety levels.
For protection of the safety outputs and in order to increase
the working life of contacts external loads must have
protective elements, such as varistors or RC-elements. The
use of these protective elements can prolong the reaction
time of the system depending on the type of element.
The safety outputs of the system and the external device
monitoring (EDM) have to be connected and wired within
one cabinet.
When changing a controller module it has to be assured
that the memory plug is connected to the designated
controller module, e.g. by wiring or marking.
Further information being relevant for the installation of the
configurable safety controller MSI 400 is documented in the
system manuals "MSI 400 Hardware" and "MSI 400
software (MSI.designer)".
