UNIT SELECTION
The device can display the weight of objects on the weighing plate - up to a maximum of 5kg (in imperial units up to 11 lbs.) - in
four measuring units on the LCD display:
• in grams(gs) kilograms(kgs)
• in ounces(ozs) pounds(lbs)
• The measuring unit required can be set by the measuring unit selection button
WEIGHING STEP
Switch the appliance on by touching the ON/OFF button. The appliance will carry out a quick self-test; each part of the display is
checked during this test.
When the self-test has finished and the display has returned to normal, place the item you're weighing onto the glass
surface. Make sure the item isn't touching anything else, such as a nearby wall or other surface, because this will affect the
measurement. The weight will be shown on the LCD display using the units you've selected previously.
If the item you're weighing cannot be put directly onto the glass surface - perhaps because it's a fine powder or a liquid - then
you may use an appropriately - sized light bowl. The scales can automatically deduct the weight of this bowl (known as the
"tare"), which avoids any need to weigh the bowl separately. To weight items in a bowl, switch on the scales and wait for
the self-test. When the display shows zero, place the empty bowl on the glass weighing surface. The bowl's weight will be
displayed. Now touch the TARE button. This will automatically compensate for the weight of the bowl and will cause the display
to show zero again. You can now weight solids or liquids that are placed in the bowl.
The device can also be used as a zero indicator because the LCD-screen can display negative values e.g. if you want to weight
identical weights during a series of measurements or the difference from a reference gauge (excess or deficit of weight). This can
be done by using taring measurement, In such cases taring must be performed after weighing a reference weight, which must
then be removed and a set of reading compared to this first measurement.
The appliance will automatically switch itself off when you' ye finished weighing. It can also be switched off by pressing the ON/
OFF button for a couple of seconds.
