Operating principle
The distance is determined by a laser beam striking a surface.
Thanks to the laser point, the measuring target is perfectly identi ed.
The scope depends on the re ectivity and the quality of the surface of
the measurement objective.
Rough Surface Measurement
In measurements on a rough surface an average value is measured
which gives a higher value for the center of the laser beam than for the
peripheral area.
Measurement on Curved or Inclined Surfaces
In the event that it points obliquely towards these surfaces, in certain
circumstances the tool may receive insu cient light energy or, if
pointed at right angles, too much light energy.
Measurement on wet or glossy surfaces
As long as the laser can point to the surface, a reliable distance can be
measured to the target. When dealing with highly re ective surfaces, a
reduced range or measurements should be made up to re ect the
light.
Measurement on transparent surfaces
Light penetrates these materials, so measurement errors can occur.
Errors can also occur if measurements are made through glass or in
case objects are found on target lines.
