1 Operating Elements and Connections

1.1 Front panel

1 Numerical keys for manual selection and switching
over of the camera channels (keys 5-8 only with
model TVS-810)
2 Button for automatic switching over of the camera
channels

1.2 Rear panel

3 Mains cable for the connection to 230 V~/50 Hz
4 Control for adjusting the switching interval in the
automatic switching mode
5 Mains fuse
6 BNC input sockets for connecting the cameras
(sockets 5-8 only with model TVS-810)
7 BNC output socket for connecting the monitor

2 Safety Notes

The appliance corresponds to the directive 89/336/
EEC for electromagnetic compatibility and the low volt-
age directive 73/23/EEC.
This unit uses lethally high voltage (230 V~). To pre-
vent a shock hazard do not open the cabinet. Leave
servicing to authorized skilled personnel only. Also
any guarantee claim expires if the unit has been
opened.
For the operation also watch in any case the following
items:
The pre-adjustment of the camera switch to the
number of the connected cameras must only be car-
ried out by authorized personnel.
The unit is only suitable for indoor use.
Avoid excessively warm locations for the unit or
high humidity (permissible operating temperature
range 0-40°C).
Do not set the unit into operation and immediately
take the mains plug out of the mains socket if:
1. damage at the unit or mains cable can be seen.
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident.
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit must in any case be repaired by authorized
skilled personnel.
A damaged mains cable must only be repaired by
the manufacturer or authorized skilled personnel.
Never pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by
means of the mains cable.
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is operated in the wrong way or not
repaired by authorized skilled personnel, there is no
liability for possible damage.
For the cleaning only use a dry cloth for dust remov-
ing, by no means chemicals or water.
Important for U.K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-

ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be connected to the terminal in the plug which
is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol
or coloured green or green and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the let-
ter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the let-
ter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
3 Applications
The sequential switch for monitoring cameras TVS-410
(with 4 camera inputs) resp. TVS-810 (with 8 camera
inputs) has been designed for monitoring and alarm
systems. With the camera switch video signals of up to
four resp. eight cameras can be switched over manual-
ly or automatically to one output. The switching inter-
vals in the automatic switching mode can be adjusted
from 0.5 to 30 seconds.
4 Pre-Adjustment of the Unit
Prior to setting into operation, the camera switch must
be adjusted to the number of the connected cameras.
1) Prior to opening the unit remove the mains plug out
of the mains socket.
2) Screw off and take off the left side (a) of the housing.
3) At the PCB side there are seven plug contacts 2-8
(resp. three plug contacts 2-4 with model TVS-
410) and a code plug (see fig. 3 resp. fig. 4). The
number of plug contacts stated in the figure refers
to the number of connected cameras. According to
the camera number set the code plug to the corre-
sponding plug contact (example: plug contact 2
with two cameras connected).

5 Connection of the Unit

The camera switch must always be separated from
the mains if connections to other units are made or are
changed.
1) Connect the cameras at the respective BNC input
sockets (6) at the rear panel. Up to eight cameras
(resp. up to four cameras with model TVS-410) can
be connected. While connecting take care that the
cameras are always connected in a rising
sequence, i. e. input socket 1 for the first camera,
input socket 2 for the second camera, etc.
2) Connect the monitor to the BNC output socket (7).
3) For setting the unit into operation connect the mains
plug to the socket (230 V~/50 Hz). After setting into
