Description of the menu options
Addr***: DMX address for the fixture. Press the wheel and turn clockwise to decrease the value. Press again to
confirm.
Manual Blue***: brightness of the blue LEDs. Value ranges from 0 ~ 255. The higher the value, the brighter the blue
LEDs. To enter this setting, press the wheel. To modify, turn clockwise to decrease the value, anticlockwise to
increase. Press again to confirm.
Manual Green**: same as above.
Manual Red***: same as above
No DMX auto/sound/manual: running mode when there is a DMX connection. To enter this setting, press the
wheel. Auto/sound/manual is in sequence. Auto indicates the auto running mode, sound is the sound activated mode
and manual is the manual operation mode. Press the wheel again to confirm the desired mode.
Chase 8***f_ or chase 8s_***s: pay attention to the position of the cursor. Before pressing the wheel, you can
switch between the options "s" and "f" by turning the wheel back or forward. When the cursor is at height of the letter
"f", press the wheel to adjust the fade time of chase 8. When the cursor is at height of the letter "s", press the wheel
to adjust the running speed of chase 8. Turn forward to decrease the value and backwards to increase. Press again
to confirm the selected fade or chase time.
Chase 7 to 1: same as described for chase 8.
DMX mode 8-group/4-group/2-group/1-group: the LEDs in the VDPLW800 are evenly divided in 8 square blocks.
8/4/2/1 indicates the numbers of LED blocks. For example, 1-group means each single LED block is a group. 2-group
means 2 LED blocks are in 1 group. 4-group means 4 LED blocks in 1 group and 8-group means all 8 blocks are in 1
group. To set the group, press the wheel and turn until it shows the desired option. Press the wheel again to confirm.
DMX mode 3channel / 6channel: each LED group has 3 or 6-channel mode option.
3-channel mode:
1. Dimmer channel for RED.
2. Dimmer channel for GREEN.
3. Dimmer channel for BLUE.
6-channel mode:
1. Adjustment for RGB.
2. Dimmer channel for RED.
3. Dimmer channel for GREEN.
4. Dimmer channel for BLUE.
5. Strobe channel.
6. Effect channel: pre-programmed built-in chases.
To set the channel mode, press the wheel and turn it forward for 6-channel mode and backwards for 3-channel
mode. Press the wheel to confirm.
Master / slave mode: when 2 or more VDPLW800s are connected together, disconnect the DMX signal and set one
or more VDPLW800s to sound activation (see "No DMX auto/sound/manual"). The VDPLW800s are then in
master-slave mode.
DMX512 Connection
Connect an XLR cable to the female 3-pin XLR output of your controller and the other side to the male 3-pin XLR
input of the VDPLW800. Multiple VDPLW800s can be linked through serial linking. The linking cable should be a two-
core screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
DMX-512 Chain with Termination
VDPLW800_v2
A DMX terminator is recommended for installations where the DMX cable has to run a
long distance or is in an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator
prevents corruption of the digital control signal by electrical noise. The DMX terminator is
simply an XLR plug with a 120 resistor between pins 2 and 3, which is then plugged into
the XLR output socket of the last device in the chain.
