Donning the full face mask

1. Check the full face mask:
The harness has to be tightened securely.
The inner mask has to be positioned correctly and securely.
The protective cap has to be positioned securely.
All other parts have to be in a good condition.
2. Loosen the carrying strap from the standby position.
3. Open out the harness, place the chin in the chin cup (Figure C),
centre the harness over the head. Ensure that the harness is flush
against the head and not twisted.
4. Ensure that neither hair nor harness impairs the face seal and that
the face seal contacts the face evenly and adjusts to its contours.
5. Tighten both neck straps (Figure D, Step 1) and then the temple
straps (Figure D, Step 2) evenly towards the back of the head so
that the middle of the harness remains on the middle of the head
(Figure E).
6. If required, tighten the upper head-harness connector (Figure D,
Step 3).
7. Breathe normally.
A soft flow of spent air should leave the exhalation valve.
8. Checking the full face mask for leakages:
a. Seal the equipment connector and breathe in until a vacuum
is produced.
b. Hold your breath for a moment. The vacuum must be
maintained. If it is not, the harness must be retightened.
c. Repeat the leak test twice.
9. Checking the exhalation valve: Seal the equipment connector and
breathe out forcefully.
The exhaled air must be able to escape without obstruction. If not,
replace the exhalation valve disk (see chapter 4.3.6 on page 19).
10. Connect either respiratory filter, powered air purifying respirator,
self-contained open-circuit breathing apparatus or hose breathing
respirator.
