Installation
General Installation Safety
• The main voltage must match the voltage mentioned on
the type plate of the charger.
Operation
General Operation Safety
• Do not charge damaged batteries. Check charger, mains
cable and battery pack for damages before every use. Do
not use damaged devices and get the damaged parts re-
paired only by experts. Check extension wires regularly
and replace them if damaged.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (includ-
ing children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca-
pabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concern-
ing use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
• Store the charger in a dry place, and keep dry at all times.
Do not use the charger if dirty or wet.
• Do not operate the charger close to an explosive environ-
ment, for example close to a gas filling station.
• We recommend users to operate the charger in a defined
protected and secure area.
• Make sure no one is close to the battery when charging.
• Protect the main cable against heat, sharp edges, oil and
moving parts.
• Avoid using extension wires with multiple sockets and si-
multaneous operation of multiple devices.
• Do not pull the plug from the socket by pulling the mains
cable.
• Do not cover the charger and keep the air vents of the
charger open.
• Make sure the charger is stable when charging, to ensure
that the batteries do not fall to the floor.
• No metal parts should come in contact with battery hold-
ers; risk of short circuit.
• Insert only clean and dry battery packs into the battery
holder of the charger.
• If a protective cover is used on the battery, make sure the
cover is removed and look for damages on the battery be-
fore charging.
• Use the charger only to charge Desoutter Li-Ion batteries,
refer to "Use as intended".
• Do not charge non rechargeable battery (primary cells);
risk of explosion.
• If you identify noise or extensive heat from a battery:

If charging, unplug the charger. Do not remove the
battery.

Step away from the battery.

Leave the battery for 12 hours.

Operating the charger
The QA-CHARGER is designed for a mains voltage/fre-
quency range of 100-240 V~ and 50/60 Hz.
1.
Connect the charger to the mains power. When the
charger is connected to the mains supply, the power in-
dicator glows green.
2.
Insert the Li-ion battery into the charging station.
Charging starts automatically as soon as the battery is
inserted. The charging time depends on the charge state
of the Li-ion battery.

WARNING Electrical Hazard
Disconnect the charger from the power source during ser-
vice, to avoid electric shock.
The removal of the plug has to be such that the oper-
ator can check from any of the points to which he
has access, that the plug remains removed.
• Do not open the charger. Repairs are only to be per-
formed by authorised service technicians.
Electrical Safety
WARNING This apparatus must be earthed.
• Earthed equipment must be plugged into a socket that
has been properly installed and earthed according to
appropriate regulations. Never remove the earth pin
or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in any
doubt as to whether the outlet is properly earthed. Should
the equipment suffer electronic malfunction or break-
down, the earth provides a low resistance path to carry
electricity away from the user. Applicable only to Class I
(earthed) equipment.
• Disconnect from the power supply before servicing.
• Failure to comply with these operating instructions may
impair the safety of this equipment.
• Only use the cord supplied with the charger, to connect to
the mains. Do not modify the cords or use them for other
purposes. Use only genuine replacement parts.
• Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric
shock.
• Must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
• Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces such
as pipes, radiators, ovens and refrigerators. There is
an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
grounded.
• Do not expose the equipment to rain or wet condi-
tions. Water entering the equipment will increase the risk
of electric shock. This instruction does not apply to
equipment classified as watertight or splash proof.
