6 Use
6.1 General
Check the equipment for completeness and damage. Do not use the equipment if it is damaged; in that
case contact the Holmatro dealer.
WARNING
Make sure you are up to date on all safety regulations and that you have mastered the use of
all equipment of the system you are going to work with.
6.2 Before use
• Inspect the blades. Do not use them if there is any damage.
• Check the operation of the dead-man's handle and whether it automatically returns to its neutral
position.
• Check the carrying handle. It must be firmly fixed.
• Check that the protection sleeve is still present and undamaged.
• Connect the hydraulic hoses. Refer to chapter 5.2.
• Start the hydraulic pump.
6.3 During use
6.3.1 Cut procedure
The blades close quite quickly until they touch the material to be cut. Now the pump will build up the
required pressure and continue with the cutting movement.
• Open the blades.
WARNING
Danger of cutting or pinching parts of the body. These tools have enormous power.
• Place the cutter with opened blades perpendicular to the object to be cut (Fig. 7).
• Place the object to be cut as deeply as possible in the cutting cavity (Fig. 8).
WARNING
Stop immediately if the blades separate or if the tips of the blades are close to running over
each other. This could lead to serious damage to the tool and/or serious injury.
• Close the blades.
6.3.2 Change tools
To change a tool during use:
• Set the pressure relief valve on the pump to the "release" position.
• Disconnect the hoses from the tool in use. Refer to chapter 5.3.
• Connect the hoses to the other tool. Refer to chapter 5.2.
• Set the pressure relief valve on the pump to the "operation" position.
