Pump components may be damaged or destroyed due to improper operation or incorrect handling of
the pump. Here, the drive shaft may be pushed out of the pump as long as the pump is pressurized.
In this case, hot liquid may be ejected.
Always depressurize the system before working on the pump or near it, removing protective covers,
dismounting the shaft/clutch between gear motor and pump, loosening the locking nut of length-ad
justable articulated shafts.
∙
Risk of burns from spurting hot liquids. Wear protective clothing, especially a face screen.
∙
When re-tightening the stuffing box while the pump shaft is rotating, always wear suitable, tight-fitting
working clothes. All rotating drive parts must be protected against any contact (e.g. by means of pro
tective hoods).
∙
Observe the position and diameter of the inlets and outlets according to the pump drawing (see sec
tion 2.1).
∙
Adjust the external control unit or external inverter so as to make sure that the pump drive does not
start automatically when the device is activated.
∙
The pump is lubricated by the medium pumped. Due to the potential damage to the pump and poten
tial ignition hazard of the pumped medium due to overheating, dry runs must absolutely be avoided.
∙
An excessive tightening torque may damage the pump (max. allowed tightening torque specified in
pump data sheet, see information in Chapter 7).
The pump may be protected against excessive torques by e.g. installing an overload coupling.
∙
The pumps must not be operated without seals. It is the responsibility of the operating company to en
sure that the drive shaft is sealed.
Any hazard caused by potentially leaking pumping medium must be avoided.
To do so, make sure the seal is mechanically and chemically resistant to the pumping medium.
