5. Maintenance
5.1 Carrying out Maintenance
Maintenance activities can be carried out by Barmag's Pump Service or the operating party's trained per­
sonnel.
For maintenance, Barmag provides pump workshops.
Barmag can provide relevant training for the operating party's personnel handling maintenance them­
selves. In addition, you can order a service book for any type of pump from Barmag.

Risk of crushing and burns
Rotating and hot parts.
When working at the motor or other electrical components (such as electrical heating), all parts must be
disconnected from power and protected against unintentional restart.
Always depressurize the pump before working on it.
Observe the safety instructions provided in Chapter 1.9.

Maintenance of the stuffing box packing (without spring pre-load)
Check the tightening torque of the stuffing box nut once per week and adjust as necessary (for the
stuffing box tightening torque, refer to the pump data sheet, Chapter 7).

Check the leak tightness of the line connections at the pump inlet and outlet and the shaft sealing on a
regular basis.
∙
If the leakage at the shaft sealing is too high or stuffing box packings cannot be further tightened
(please, observe safety instructions in section 1.9), the packings (e.g. packing rings, gaskets) must be
replaced as specified in the spare part catalog (may be ordered from Barmag).
The pump shaft must be checked for damage in the sealed part and replaced if necessary.

Prior to the installation of new seals, always ensure that the installation location as well as the drive
shaft are free from any residues or soiling, i.e. that they are absolutely clean.
