TROUBLESHOOTING

Before performing any of the corrections in this troubleshooting chart, refer to the appropriate information contained in
this manual for the correct safety precautions and operating or maintenance procedures. Contact your dealer or ECHO
for service problems with the machine.

Lack of fuel or oil
Spark plug disconnected

plugged
Feeding material that is too large
Cooling system plugged
Improper coolant level
Engaging belt too fast
Belt tension too loose
Air filter dirty
Fuel filter dirty
Fuel vent plugged
Spark plug dirty/worn
Carburetor vibration
Cooling system dirty/plugged
Spark arrestor* plugged
Dull chipper blades
Drive belts loose or worn
Feeding material that is too large

REMEDY
Fill fuel tank and check oil level
Connect spark plug
Test kill switch. Replace if it is not working
Drain and refill fuel tank with fresh, clean
unleaded regular gasoline or diesel. Replace
fuel filter.
See your engine dealer
Shut off engine and disengage belt
engagement. Refer to manual for information
on clearing a plugged rotor. Never use the belt
engagement to clear a plugged rotor.
Limit branch size to rated capacity
Clean cooling fan and cooling fins on the
radiator or engine block
Fill engine to correct coolant level. Refer to the
engine owner's manual
Reduce engagement speed
Adjust tensioner. Replace belt if needed.
