1.
Remove splash shield – Us i ng tri m removal tool or flathead screwdriver, remove pushpins from splash s hield. See Fig 2 for reference. Us i ng 10mm socket, remove fastener from underside of
s plash guard. Remove guard and set aside. Repeat on other side of vehicle.
2.
Remove fender trim – Us i ng 10mm socket, remove fastener inside of fender well. Then using trim removal tool, unclip fender tri m from rear fascia t o a ccess pushpin. Remove pushpin a nd set
a s ide. Repeat on other s ide of vehicle.
3.
Remove fasteners from fascia – Us i ng fingers, remove cover panels from trunk opening. Using 10mm s ocket, remove lowest fastener from under panel. Using Phillips s crewdriver, remove
two vi s ible fasteners from lower trunk opening.
4.
Remove rear fascia – Us i ng tri m removal tool or flat head s crewdriver, remove two plastic push pins from underside of fascia near muffler. Using tri m removal tool, unclip fascia from under
ta i llights and near wheel opening. Repeat on other side of vehicle. Remove fascia by pulling rearward and set aside.
5.
Remove rear bumper beam – Us i ng 14mm socket, remove s ix M10 fasteners attaching bumper beam to vehicle. Remove bumper beam a nd return to vehicle owner.
6.
Install hitch – Ins tall hitch i n place of rear bumper beam. Install factory bumper beam bolts hand tight.
Note:
Us e s econd person or jack s tand to assist with holding hitch until all fasteners are i nstalled.
7.
Tighten all M10 fasteners with torque wrench to 59 Ft.Lb. (79 N*M).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
8.
Trim fascia – Check for s ensors, wires etc. on the i nside of fascia prior to tri mming. Ma rk underside of fascia to trim as shown in Fig. 3.
9.
Reinstall rear fascia – Rei nstall all components removed i n step 1 thru 4.
10. Quick Link clearance – Us i ng l ower portion of hitch chain l oops as template, drill two ½" holes i n rear face of fascia.
Note: Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be
removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and
towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
