WARNING: If the information in these instructions is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion may
result causing property damage, injury, or death.
1. Turn pump, gas supply, and heater power off.
2. Remove the screw from the front access panel and remove the front panel.
3. Disconnect the two wires from the gas valve.
4. Remove field supply piping from the gas valve.
5. Remove the four screws securing the gas manifold to the burner housing and remove the
existing gas manifold assembly from the heater.
6. Using the screws removed in the previous step, secure the new gas manifold supplied in this
kit to the burner housing.
7. Reconnect the wires removed in previous steps to the new gas valve.
8. Connect the supply piping to the gas valve. CAUTION: Ensure that the plastic cap on the inlet
side of the new gas valve has been removed before installing supply piping.
ATTENTION: Apply joint compound (pipe dope) sparingly and only to the male threads of pipe
joints. Do not apply joint compound to the first two threads. Use joint compound resistant to
the action of fuel gases. Do not over tighten the gas inlet pipe or damage to the gas valve may
result.
9. Fill out the required information on the silver gas conversion label supplied with this kit and
place it next to the unit data label located on the base of the unit inside the front access panel.
An approved main gas shutoff valve must be installed outside the cabinet and within 6 feet
of the heater. This valve must have an ID large enough to supply the proper amount of gas
volume to the heater (see diagram below).
