Westward Operating Instructions
Grease or empty cartridge in the barrel is under pressure
from the internal spring. Be extremely careful when
removing either end of the barrel
Always use safety goggles when using the grease gun
PREPARING TO LOAD YOUR GREASE GUN
1. Removing empty cartridge : Remove any cartridge in the grease gun barrel prior to refilling. To check if a cartridge
is in the barrel, first compress the spring by pulling the plunger handle fully outward. Remove the grease gun head by
turning it anticlockwise to remove any empty cartridge.
2. Locking / Releasing the plunger rod : This gun incorporates a lock lever that will hold the plunger rod wherever it is
stopped. Before pushing the plunger rod into the barrel, simply press the lock lever while simultaneously pulling the
plunger rod back slightly, then allowing it to slide forward.
3. Priming : Usually after loading, all grease equipment have some trapped air pockets in grease . Trapped air causes
zero or reduced grease discharge. Removing these air pockets from grease is referred to as Priming or Air Bleeding.
It is highly recommended to prime the grease gun after every loading. If the grease gun has been in regular use,
priming can be done without having to remove the grease gun extension & coupler from the grease gun head.
THREE WAYS TO LOAD YOUR GREASE GUN
CARTRIDGE LOADING
Remove the gun head by rotating it in anticlockwise direction.
Pull the Plunger Rod Handle all the
way back.
Remove the plastic cap from the car-
tridge and insert the open end of the
cartridge into the grease gun barrel
until the rim of the pull-tab end meets
the rim of the barrel. Now remove the
pull-tab seal. Screw back the grease
gun head tightly onto the barrel.
PRIME THE GREASE GUN :
Release the plunger rod by pressing lock lever. While keeping Bulk Loader cum Air Release Valve open, move plunger
rod back and forth to force out any trapped air. Operate the pistol handle several times to remove any last traces of air
till the gun starts dispensing grease.
Clear Tube Pistol Grease Gun
SUCTION FILL
Insert the open end of the barrel about
2" into the grease container.
Slowly pull the plunger rod handle to
draw in grease into the empty barrel
while pushing the barrel deeper into
the grease until the plunger rod is
completely extended.
The grease gun barrel should now be
filled with grease. The outside surface
may have a lot of grease stuck to it
and should be wiped clean for safety.
Shake the grease gun barrel to allow
the grease to settle down. Screw back
the grease gun head tightly onto the
barrel.
2
Do not use gun hose for other applications or at
pressures above the rated pressure level
Excess grease if left on floor, tools or equipment can
create surfaces that become slippery
TRANSFER FILL
Wipe the grease gun's bulk loader
valve free of grease and possible
debris.
Activate the transfer pump until a
small amount of grease comes out.
This step will minimize transferring any
trapped air.
Connect the Bulk Loader cum Air Re-
lease Valve tightly on the grease gun
to the loader adapter on the transfer
pump line.
Start operating the transfer pump,
keeping your hand on the grease gun,
lightly pushing it down onto the trans-
fer pump.
Once the gun barrel is filled, pumping
would get very hard. Stop at this time.
Disconnect the Bulk Loader cum Air
Release Valve from the transfer pump
line.
