Overview
Hybrid Repeaters add RF capability to P5 Processors
configured with a Hybrid Repeater Link and provide
an additional coverage area for radio frequency (RF)
signals sent in the HomeWorks System. Each repeater
covers a sphere of approximately 232 m
living space. Up to five (5) Hybrid Repeaters may be
connected to one 8 Series
Important Notes
Codes: Install in accordance with all local and
national electrical codes.
Power: The Hybrid Repeater can be powered from
EITHER of two sources:
1. Adapter power. Use only the adapter
provided with the Hybrid Repeater.
Caution - Using an adapter not rated at
the following specifications could damage
the repeater and possibly overheat the
adapter.
• Input: 220-240 V
• Output: 9 V
300 mA
NEC Class 2; IEC PELV
2. Link power. Use power supplied via a
HomeWorks Processor Hybrid Repeater
Link (8 Series
TM
Processors only) or use a HomeWorks
auxiliary power supply. (See section about
the HWI-PS in the HomeWorks Technical
Reference Guide or Application Note
HW-104.) Each Hybrid Repeater counts as
15 LEDs.
Environment: Ambient operating temperature:
0-40 °C (32-104 °F), 0-90% humidity, non-condens-
ing. Indoor use only.
Cleaning: To clean, wipe with a clean damp cloth. DO
NOT use any chemical cleaning solutions.

RF Performance: The range and performance of any
RF system is dependent on a variety of complex fac-
tors such as: distance between devices, materials
separating devices, geometry of the home, geometry
between devices, RF interference, and other installed
electronic equipment. These installation factors are
beyond Lutron's knowledge and control; therefore,
Lutron cannot guarantee a minimum range between
devices. Range performance could be reduced below
the guidelines described in this installation instruction
sheet. Refer to Application Note #85, Understanding
RF Communication - Path Loss for details.
