icgas can damage the fuel systemof
an engine whilein storage.
To avoidengineproblems,emptythe
fuel system beforestoragefor 30 days
or longer.Drainthe gas tank, startthe
engineand let it run untilthe fuel lines
andcarburetorare empty.Usefresh
fuel nextseason.
Neveruse engine or carburetorcleaner
productsin the fuel tankor permanent
damage may occur.
Fuelstabilizeris an acceptable alterna-
tivein minimizing the formation of fuel
gumdepositsduringstorage.Crafts-
manbrand oil isalreadyblendedwith
fuel stabilizer.See the STORAGE sec-
tionfor additionalinformation.
STOPPING YOUR ENGINE
• Tostop the engine,pressand hold
thestop (_ switchuntilengine stops.
STARTING YOUR ENGINE
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
YouMUSTmake sure the tubes are se-
cure beforeusingthe unit.
• Fuelengine. Move at least 10 feet (3
meters)away from the fueling site.
• Holdthe unitin the startingposition
•as shown.Make sure the blowerend
is directedaway from people,ani-
mals,glass,and solidobjects.
WARNING: Whenstarling engine,hold
theunitas illustrated. Do notset uniton
anysurface excepta clean,hardarea
whenstarting engineor whileengineis
running. D ebris such as gravel, s and,
dust,grass,etc.couldbe pickedup by
the airintakeand thrown outthrough the
discharge opening,damaging the unitor
property, or causing seriousinjury to by-
standersor the operator.

STARTING A COLD ENGINE OR A
WARM ENGINE AFTER RUNNING
OUT OF FUEL
• Verifycoldstart lever (_) is in the
Run position.
• Press primerbutton(_) slowly12
times.
• Move speed controllever_) to fast
_i* position.
• Move cold startlever (_) to Start.
• Pullstarter ropeuntilenginestarts.
Move coldstartlever (_ to Run if:
- Engine does notstartalter3 pulls,or
- after engine starts.
• Run engine in the fast _-_ positionfor
a 30 secondwarm-up.Then move
speed controllever (_) to desired
speed: _
isfor fast engine speed,
isfor slow enginespeed.
• To stopthe engine, press and hold
the stop (_ switchuntilenginestops.
FOR A WARM ENGINE
• Verifycoldstart lever (_) is in the
Run position.
• Move speed controllever (_) to the
fast '_ position.
° Pullstarterrope untilenginestarts.If
engine does not start in 3 pulls,follow
coldengine startingprocedure.
• To stopthe engine, pressand hold
the stop O switchuntilenginestops.
DIFRCULT STARTING OR STARTING
A FLOODED ENGINE
Rcodedenginescan be startedbyplac-
ingthe coldstartleverin the Run posi-
tion.Move speedcontrolleverto fast
_a*; then,pullrope untilenginestarts.
Afterenginestarts,movethespeedcon-
trolleverto _
to allowengine to idle.
Starting couldrequirepulling the starter
ropemanytimesdepending on how
badlythe unitis flooded.Ifthe unitstill
