machineand in this manualbeforeoperating.
Oil
The unit was shippedwith oil in the engine.Checkoil levelbefore
eachoperationto ensureadequateoil inthe engine.Forfurther
instructions,refertothe stepson page 16.
NOTE:Be sureto checkthe engineon a levelsurfacewith the engine
stopped.
1.
Removethe oil fillercap/dipstickand wipethe dipstickclean.
2.
insertthe cap/dipstickintothe oil filler neck,butdo NOTscrewit
in.
3.
Removethe oil fillercap/dipstick,ifthe levelislow,slowlyadd
oil (5W-30,with a minimumclassification of SF/SG)untiloil level
registersbetweenhigh (H) and low(L).
NOTE:Do notoverfill.Overfillingwith oil mayresult inenginesmoking,
hard startingor spark plugfouling.
4.
Replaceand tighten cap/dipstickfirmlybeforestartingengine.
Gasoline
Use automotive gasoline(unleadedor low leadedto minimizecombus-
tionchamberdeposits)with a minimumof 87 octane.Gasolinewith
up to 10%ethanolor 15%MTBE(MethylTertiaryButyl Ether)canbe
used. Neverusean oil/gasolinemixtureor dirty gasoline.Avoidgetting
dirt, dust,or waterin thefuel tank. DO NOTuse E85gasoline.

Refuelin a well-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Donot
smokeor allowflamesor sparksin the area wheretheengine is
refueledor wheregasolineisstored.

Do notoverfillthe fuel tank.After refueling,makesurethe tank
cap is closedproperlyand securely.

Be carefulnot to spillfuel when refueling.Spilledfuelor fuelvapor
may ignite. I f any fuel isspilled,makesurethe area isdry before
startingtheengine.
•
Avoidrepeatedor prolongedcontactwith skin or breathingof
vapor.
Useextremecare whenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremely
flammableand the vaporsare explosive.IVeverfuel t he machine
indoors or while theengine ishotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars,pipesand other sourcesof ignition.

Cleanaroundfuelfill beforeremovingcap to fuel.
A fuel levelindicator i slocated in the fuel tank.See Figure11.
Be carefulnot to overfill.Filltank untilfuel reachesthefuel level
indicator to allow spacefor fuelexpansion.

STARTING
THE ENGINE
Alwayskeephandsand feetclear of movingparts.Do not usea
pressurizedstartingfluid. Vaporsare flammable.
NOTE:Allowthe engineto warm up for a few minutesafter starting.
The enginewill notdevelopfull poweruntilit reachesoperating
temperatures.

Makecertainboththe augercontrol and drivecontrolare in the
disengaged(released)position.
2.
insertkeyinto slot. Makesureit snaps intoplace. Donot attempt
to turn the key.
NOTE: Theenginecannot startwithoutthe keyfully inserted intothe
ignition switch.
Recoil
Starter
Do not pull thestarterhandlewhilethe engine running.

Movethrottlecontrolto FAST(rabbit)_'J_ position.
2.
Movechoketo the CHOKEI,_vqposition(coldengine start). If
engine iswarm,placechoke in RUNposition.
