• Do not connect the filter to the mains water supply, as the pressure of the water may be too
high and exceed the maximum working pressure allowed by the filter.
• Never start up the filtration system without a water supply.
• As all the connections are made with gaskets, do not over-tighten the nuts. If you have a
torque wrench, we recommend tightening the metal nuts of the covers to a torque of between
3 and 5 N·m.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON USE AND MAINTENANCE
• Children must not carry out any work on or handle the filter.
• Respect the regulations in force regarding the prevention of accidents.
• Do not use the filtration system to fill or adjust the water level of the swimming pool.
• The pump must be switched off every time you open, close or handle any valve.
• The filtration system must be switched off during any maintenance work on it .
• Do not use solvents to clean the filter, as this may damage its structure. Take special care with
transparent and plastic accessories such as lids, feet, connections and sight glasses.
• Regularly check that suction inlets are not clogged.
• The pressure gauge is normally color-coded (green / yellow / red). Ensure the needle is always
in the green range. When the needle is in the yellow range (Fig. 5), start the BACKWASH (Fig.
2) and RINSE (Fig. 3) procedures.
Avoid the needle going into the red range. This means that the filter media is too dirty, the flow
rate will be reduced and the water will become cloudy due to poor filtration.
Check the pressure gauge regularly (at least once a week). If you notice that the pressure gauge
is not working properly, replace it with a new one.
• If you see lime scale in the filter medium, clean it with solid or liquid Astralpool Filnet. If after
using Filnet, the filter media has not been unclogged, it must be replaced.
• When the pool is being winterized or is not in regular use, run the filtration system at its
lowest setting. In this case, the filter does not have to be emptied, but even if the pressure
gauge has not risen to the yellow range it is advisable to backwash and rinse the filter every
30 to 60 days in order to avoid clogging the filter media, although the backwash time can be
shorter than in the peak season.
• If you need to shut down the filtration system for a long time, backwash and rinse the filter
media before the shut down so that it is clean and then completely drain the water out of the
filter and leave the top lid on but not screwed in, thus ensuring that the inside of the filter is
ventilated. Check that all the valves are in the closed position and leave the bottom drain open
so that all of the water drains off and drain all of the water out of the pipes and valves. Avoid
low temperatures or freezing in winter by covering the filter with canvas or plastic.
• The filling, backwash and rinse procedures must be followed to reset the filter after it has
been completely stopped for a long time or due to maintenance work.
• Do the recommended maintenance work on the filtration system and replace any worn or
damaged parts immediately.
• At the end of its service life, the assembly may be handled as non-hazardous construction
waste depending on current legislation in each country.
