INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Prior to installation, clean the tank interior of dirt and foreign
material. Wrap all threads that are exposed to liquids with 3 to 4 turns of thread
tape or a thread-sealing compound approved for use with petroleum fuels.
Mechanical Connections
NOTE: All threaded fuel connections must be sealed with thread tape or a pipe-
thread-sealing compound approved for use with petroleum fuels and tightened
securely to prevent leakage.
NOTE: This pump must be mounted on a vented tank. If the tank is not vented,
contact GPI for the correct vent.
NOTE: This pump is designed to mount directly to a standard 2 inch female tank
fitting. Apply thread tape, or a thread-sealing compound approved for use with
petroleum fuels, to the suction pipe thread (see Figure 2) and securely tighten
the suction pipe to the pump inlet port.
Install Strainer and Suction Pipe
1.
Remove protective plugs from the pump inlet and outlet ports.
2.
Insert the inlet screen (see Figure 3) into the inlet cover.
3.
Place the spacer (see Figure 3) in the inlet cover to secure the inlet screen.
4.
Assemble the two pieces of suction pipe together (if the 24 in. - 40 in.
extension piece is needed) (see Figure 2), making sure to wrap the treads
with 3 to 4 turns of thread tape or a thread-sealing compound approved for
use with petroleum fuels.
5.
Wrap top threads of suction pipe with thread tape. Insert into the pump inlet
port and tighten snugly.
Install Pump on Tank
1.
Before installing the pump, clean the tank interior of all dirt and foreign
material.
2.
Wrap the threads of the inlet 3 or 4 times with thread tape or a thread-
sealing compound approved for use with petroleum fuels.
3.
Extend the adjustable suction pipe to its full length and carefully insert it into
tank opening. The suction pipe will adjust to the length needed and rest on
the bottom of tank.
4.
Thread the inlet fitting of the pump onto the tank and turn the pump to
tighten snugly.
NOTE: To prevent the buildup of pressure and possible fuel leakage through the
nozzle, make sure the tank is vented.
