Causes of a defective image
In case of a defective image you must check that:
The illumination is well made, the light intensity is not excessive enough or too weak.
Never regulate it with the diaphragm of the condenser. The condenser and the lamp must
be well centered.
The eyepieces must fit well and the objectives must be well tightened.
The cleaning of the whole optical system, following this process: make the eyepieces rota-
te and if the specks move, clean them. Make the whole of the head rotate. Never dismatle the
head. However, you can clean carefully those accesible surfaces of the prisms blowing with
a rubber pear. Rotate the objective, if the parasitic images turn around clean it with a small
dry brush trying to remove the dust, observe the frontal surface with a magnifying glass or
an inverted eyepiece.
The immersion oil must be enough and it must not contain bubbles or impurities.
The microscope slides, microscope cover glasses and assembly medium must not be too
thick so that they do not prevent the focusing at medium or high magnifications. There are
standard dimensions for both microscope slides and cover glasses.
7. MAINTENANCE
All the operating methods we have exposed previously will not have any value if you do
not carry out a continuous maintenance.
The maintenance of these microscopes is the same as any other optical instrument. They
must be always clean and covered with the dust cover to avoid that the dust settles on them.
The user must never dismantle the lens, if there would be any dirtiness on the outside
surfaces of the lens, clean them with a soft cloth without fluff.
To eliminate the dust settled on the lens, blow with a rubber pear or clean it with a small
soft brush.
For the cleaning of the mechanical pieces use non-corrosive lubricants, so that the paint
does not become damaged. Be careful not to touch the optical pieces. Use always a neutral
detergent.
If the lamp burns out, change it with an URA halogen lamp 6V 30W, being careful not to
touch the bulb with your hands.
IMPORTANT: Before changing the lamp bulb or the fuse, make sure that the microsco-
pe is disconnected. Make also sure of using lamps 6V 30W, since the use of any other kind
of lamps will produce a defective functioning of the instrument.
For the change of lamps these microscopes are provided with a device at the bottom of
its base; loosen the screw and draw it out, loosen the screws of the lamp holder and change
it, holding it firmly again. Center the lamp holder again, if necessary.
If it is necessary to change the fuse you must follow this process: Loosen the protective
lid that is on the base of the microscope (fuse), change the fuse and place it in the same posi-
tion, putting the protective lid again.
