Risk ofFire - Hydrogen gas can be produced in a hot water system served by this water heater that has not been used for a long
period of time (generally two weeks or more). HYDROGEN GAS ISEXTREMELY F LAMMABLE!! To dissipate such gas and to reduce risk
of injury, it is recommended that the hot water faucet be opened for several minutes at the kitchen sink before using any electrical
appliance connected to the hot water system. If hydrogen is present, there will be an unusual sound such as air escaping through the
pipe as the water begins to flow. Do not smoke or use an open flame near the faucet at the time it is open.

displacement due to earthquake motions. For residential water heaters up to 52 gallon (236.4 L) capacity, a brochure with
generic earthquake bracing instructions can be obtained from: Office of the State Architect, 400 P Street, Sacramento, CA
95814 or you may call 9!6.324.53!5 or ask a water heater dealer.
Applicable local codes shall always govern installation. For residential water heaters of a capacity greater than
52 gallons (236.4 L)consult the local building jurisdiction for acceptable bracing procedures.
