hold the blade.Be certainto stop motorand removekey.
Periodicallyinspectthe bladeadapterforcracks,especiallyif you
strikea foreignobject.Replacewhen necessary.Followthesteps
belowforblade service.

1. Stopthe motorand removeignitionkey.Turnthe moweron its side.
2. Placea 2x4 block of woodapproximately 8.5" long betweenthe
deck housingand the cuttingbladeto act as a stabilizer.See Figure
11.
3. Loosenand removethe bladebolt, locking plate,and blade.See
Figure11.

IMPORTANT:If any metalseparationis present,replacethe blades
with newones.

Toproperlysharpenthe cuttingblades,removeequal amounts
of metalfrom bothends of the bladesalong the cuttingedges,
parallelto the trailingedge,at a 25° to 30° angle.See Figure12.

It is importantthat eachcuttingblade edge be ground
equallyto maintainproperblade balance.A poorlybalanced
bladewill causeexcessivevibrationand maycausedamage
to the mowerand resultin personalinjury.The bladecan be
testedby balancingit on a roundshaft screwdriver. G rind
metalfrom the heavyside untilit balancesevenly.
An unbalancedblade willcause excessivevibrationwhenrotating
at high speeds.It maycause damageto mowerand couldbreak
caus ng persona n ury.

Installation
1. Placethecutting blade,lockingplate, and blade bolton the motor
shaftand threadthe bladebolt in fingertight.
NOTE:Makecertainto replacethe parts in the exactorder in which
they wereremoved.Wheninstallingthe cuttingblade,be sure it is
installedwith thecurvedends pointingtowardsthe mowerdeck and
not towardsthe ground.
2. Torquethe bladebolt downusinga torquewrenchto assurethe
bolt is tightenedproperly.The recommended torqueforthe blade
bolt is 170-220in. Ibs.
