General troubleshooting tables
If difficulties should be encountered in the course of operation, and no major instrument malfunctions can initially be detected, please recheck the symptoms, referring to the tables
provided below, before contacting your service representative.
OPTICAL SYMPTOMS
Darkness at the periphery,
or uneven viewfield brightness
Dirt or dust in the viewfield
Poor image quality
(low resolution or contract)
Image dark on one side
Image shifts during focus
Image tinged yellow
Insufficient illumination brightness
MECHANICAL SYMPTOMS
Specimen image unsmooth
Image not focusable with high
power objectives
Binocular image not integrated
Excessive eye fatigue
ELECTRICAL SYMPTOMS
Lamp does not light when
switched ON
Insufficient illumination brightness
Unstable lamp brightness
CAUSES
Revolving nosepiece not in click-stop position
(objective not centered in optical path)
Field diaphragm not centered
Field diaphragm closed too far
Dirt or dust on the lens(condenser, objective, eyepiece etc)
Dirt or dust on the lens (condenser, objective, eyepiece etc)
Dirt or dust on the slide
Condenser position too low
No coverglass attached to the slide
Coverglass too thick or thin
Slide upside-down
Immersion oil on dry system objective (especially 40X)
Air bubbles in immersion oil
Condenser aperture and field diaphragm opened too far
Dirt or dust on the entrance lens
Condenser aperture closed too far
Condenser position too low
Revolving nosepiece not in click-stop position
Floating specimen
Specimen rises from stage surface

CAUSES
Mechanical stage not securely fastened
Slide upside-down
Coverglass too thick
Interpupillary distance not correctly adjusted
Incorrect diopter adjustment
Inadequate brightness or illumination
CAUSES
No electrical power
LED Lamp not inserted
LED failure
Unspecified lamp bulb used
Voltage too low
LED Lamp about to fail
LED Lamp not correctly inserted into socket
COUNTERMEASURES
Revolve to click-stop position (swing the objective
correctly into the optical path)
