Specific Precautions/Optical Scan Laser
The Optical Scan Laser is a class 3R laser designed to measure
tread depth . The laser is not a field serviceable part . No
maintenance is to be performed on the laser .
The non-visible laser beams are on when the Hunter logo is
illuminated .
The laser beam is terminated when a vehicle passes or when it
reaches the other tower .

These standards enable use of the product in garages and
hazardous locations (Class I, Division 2) . The product can be used
in a location classified as Class I, Division 1 (recessed in a pit) by
reclassifying the pit to the Division 2 by use of ventilation per NEC .
Environmental Considerations Environmental Considerations
Normal rainwater will not harm the sensors or plates . The system
must not be installed outdoors or in areas exposed to rain or
potential flooding . Hosing down the system is permissible, however
installation in areas of standing water or flooding is prohibited .
Do not pressure wash the tread depth sensors under any
circumstances .
Certain shops may need to drive vehicles over the
sensors when they are powered off, such as a dealership
porter moving vehicles around after hours . This can
result in water and debris falling onto the sensor
windows and drying, since the air knives will not operate . It is
recommended in these situations to inform the customer to either
leave the system powered on at all times, or manually clean the
windows if necessary, before powering on the system every day .
