INTRODUCTION
This Palmer AoC product was developed to transmit audio signals reliably
over long distances without loss or hum via Cat cable. Up to four balanced
analogue channels or up to eight channels in digital AES3 format can be
transmitted. The compact and modular design is suitable for a wide range
of applications in the studio, on stage and in permanent installations. This
product is suitable for use with phantom power. Preferably use balanced
cables for analogue signal transmission, as these are significantly less
susceptible to interference than unbalanced cables. Digital signal trans-
mission in AES3 format requires balanced cabling.
CONNECTIONS
Plug a shielded Cat cable (Cat5e or better) with etherCON plugs (or com-
patible) into the etherCON INPUT socket and connect the other end of the
cable to another Palmer AoC Box (e.g. PAOCBXLRM), a Palmer AoC Loom
or another suitable Palmer device with AoC interface (or other devices
with AES72 type 5E pin assignment). The second etherCON socket THRU is
intended for forwarding the signals.
LIFT / GND: Switch for disconnecting the ground connection of AoC INPUT
and AoC THRU (switch position LIFT = ground disconnected). The ability
to prevent a humming loop using the ground lift switch depends on the
grounding of the connected devices. It is therefore possible that either
switch position effectively reduces or eliminates humming.
Connect the female XLR sockets 1 to 4 to microphones, DI boxes, audio
players etc. or to the AES3 outputs of a digital playback device. Different
devices can be used at the same time.
