5.3. TIPS FOR BREWING COFFEE
EN
1.
A clean coffee maker is essential for making good coffee. Clean and descale your coffee
maker regularly as described in the "CLEANING AND CARE" section.
2.
Always use fresh room temperature water in the coffee maker.
3.
Store unopened coffee packages in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of coffee, close
it tightly and store it in the refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
4.
For a stronger aroma and flavour, buy whole coffee beans and grind them just before brewing.
5.
Do not reuse spent coffee grinds, as this will impair the flavour of your coffee. Reheating
coffee is not recommended, as coffee is at its peak flavour immediately after brewing.
6. CLEANING AND CARE
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Always unplug the appliance from the wall socket
and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
WARNING! To protect against fire, electric shock or injury, never immerse the
appliance, power cord or plug in water or other liquids. Do not rinse these electrical
parts under the tap.
NOTE: Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or
scouring pads to clean the appliance.
1.
Clean the removable accessories after each use. Remove the filter (1), brew basket (2) and
glass carafe (5) for cleaning. Discard the used coffee grounds from the filter (1) and wash the
accessories in warm soapy water with a soft sponge. Rinse well and allow to dry.
2.
Wipe the main unit (12) and the warming plate (13) with a soft cloth moistened with water or
soapy water. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
3.
After each use, wipe the nozzle that drips coffee into the coffee pot with a dry cloth to prevent
drips and dirt build-up.
4.
Reattach the accessories to the coffee maker.
DESCALING
To ensure your coffee maker works efficiently, descale it every 2 – 3 months or more often,
depending on the hardness of the water in your area. Descaling helps to remove limescale and
mineral deposits from tap water that build up inside the appliance over time.
To descale with lemon juice:
1.
Add the juice of 1 to 3 lemons (filtered through a fine metal sieve) to the glass carafe (5) and
fill the rest of the glass carafe with water. Mix well.
2.
Fill the water tank (10) with the lemon mixture up to the maximum capacity of 12 cups.
3.
Then follow steps 3 to 16 below to descale with the lemon mixture.
To descale with a descaler:
1.
Use a commercially available descaler for coffee makers and follow the instructions on the
package.
2.
Unplug the coffee maker. Open the water tank lid (8) and then empty it by carefully tipping
over the coffee maker. Pour the water away from where the power cord is. Fill the water tank
(10) with the recommended amount of descaler and fill the rest of the tank with water up to the
maximum capacity of 12 cups.
3.
Place the glass carafe (5) on the warming plate (13).
4.
Make sure the filter (1) and brew basket (2) are in place. Press the on/off button (A), without
adding ground coffee, and let the appliance brew 1 cup of the descaling mixture.
5.
Press the on/off button (A) to turn the appliance off.
6.
Let the descaling mixture sit in the appliance for 15 minutes.
7.
Repeat steps 4 to 6 once more.
