Power supply and start-up
Observe the mains voltage: The voltage and
frequency of the power source must comply with
the specifi cations on the machine's identifi cation
plate.
In North America, only Festool machines with the
voltage specifi cations 120 V/60 Hz may be used.
On/Off switch
To switch on: Push the switch (1.1) forwards until
it engages.
To switch off: Press on the end of the switch (1.1).
This releases the switch locking in the ON position
and the switch moves to the OFF position.

Machine settings
Always pull the plug out of the socket
before any type of work on the machine.
4.1
Electronics
The machine features full-wave electron-
ics with the following properties:
Smooth start-up
The electronically controlled smooth start-up
ensures that the machine starts up jolt-free.
Speed adjustment
You can regulate the speed steplessly between
750 and 2300 rpm using the adjusting wheel (2.1).
Constant speed
The preselected motor speed remains constant
through electronic control. This ensures a uniform
cutting speed even when under strain.
Temperature cut-out
To protect against overheating (burning out of mo-
tor), an electronic temperature monitoring system
has been installed. Prior to reaching a critical mo-
tor temperature, the safety electronics switches
off the motor. After a cooling time of approx. 3-5
minutes, the machine can be operated again at
full load. The machine requires less time to cool
down if it is running, i.e. in neutral.
4.2
Installing polishing pad
– Press spindle stop (1.4).
– Screw the polishing pad (1.2) onto the spindle,
or unscrew from the spindle.
Press spindle stop only with the drive
spindle stationary. Never switch on the
motor with spindle stop pressed.
4.3
Auxiliary handle
The auxiliary handle (1.3) can be screwed onto
either the right or left of the gear head.
4.4
Securing polishing attachments
Only use polishing pads pads with an
undamaged burr layer.
Due to the PoliStick system, the polishing materi-
als (felt, sponge, sheepskin) are simply pressed
onto the polishing pad (1.4) and held in place by
the adhesive coating on the polishing pad.
5
Working with the machine
For safe guidance, hold the machine with both
hands on the motor housing (1.6) and on the gear
head (1.5) and/or the auxiliary handle (1.3).
Do not overload the tool by pressing on it too hard.
The best polishing results are achieved by working
with a moderate contact pressure.
6
Accessories
Use only original Festool accessories and
Festool consumable material designed
for this machine because these system
components are designed specifi cally for
the machine.
Using accessories and consumable material from
other suppliers will most likely affect the quality
of your working results and limit any warranty
claims. Machine wear or your own personal work-
load may increase depending on the application.
Protect yourself and your machine, and preserve
your warranty claims by always using original
Festool accessories and Festool consumable
material!
Use only original Festool polishing pads.
Low-quality polishing pads may cause se-
rious machine imbalance that decreases
the quality of the working results and
increase machine wear.
The order numbers of the accessories and tools
can be found in the Festool catalogue or on the
Internet under "www.festool.com".
7
Service and maintenance
Always pull the plug out of the socket
before any type of work on the machine!
All maintenance and repair work which
requires the motor housing to be opened,
must only be carried out by an authorised
service workshop.
