6. MAINTENANCE

The ECO BASIC I reverse osmosis equipment requires low maintenance.
Some components, like the post-filter, sediments pre-filter, activated charcoal filter and the reverse osmosis
membrane have a certain wear and a limited lifespan. Its duration depends on local conditions, because water
has its own composition in each region. As an orientation, the duration of these components are explained as
follows.
-Rematerializing post filter: 1 year
-Sediments pre-filter: 3-12 months (depending on inlet water)
-Activated charcoal filter: 1 year (depending on inlet water)
-Reverse osmosis membrane: 3 years (depending on inlet water)
-UVA lamp: 8000 hours
Element durability is a function of parameters experimented in the laboratory. Excessive alteration of these
parameters may shorten component life.
- For a sanitary warranty, the osmoser must be periodically hygienized , by cleaning the elements which
comprise the filtration system.
- The equipment hygienisation must be done by an Authorized Technical Service, and following all instructions
that come with the cleaning products.
Caution: Even if the entry valve is closed, the vessels containing the filters contain an important
amount of water. Please take the precaution of having a container for its emptying in order to
avoid a water spillage.
Note: If the pre-filter or post filter are replaced, it is not imperative to replace the rest. If the
reverse osmosis membrane is replaced, the sediment pre-filter, the activated charcoal filter and
the remineralizer post filter must also be replaced.
Steps for filter replacement:
Before doing any manipulation on the equipment, make sure that it is unplugged and there are
no risks. This equipment operates with electric current. In case of any doubts call the technical
service.
To replace the filters proceed as indicated below:
-Unplug the unit.
-Close the unit water intake valve.
-Open the unit carefully removing the top cover. Try not to bend or pull the cables on the top cover.
-Separate the filters slowly ensuring no cable or tube is pulled too tightly.
-Replace the desired filter.
