4. Troubleshooting
Symptom
The batch accuracy is bad.
The batch accuracy is not as it was before.
My accuracy is good if I ran batches back to
back, but goes down if I leave time between
batches.
My repeatability is fine, but not my accuracy.
The pump performs just one stroke and
stops, and the controller gives a "Max Rate"
alarm.
The "Signal Range" alarm has been trig-
gered.
The "Emergency Stop" stop message ap-
pears, and it won't go away.
The controller software upload sequence
was interrupted, aborted or just didn't work.

Reason
System has not been properly calibrated.
Air pressure may have decreased
The pump may be losing its prime. When
it re-primes itself it does not account for
the strokes needed to re-prime that don't
pump fluid.
Pump may be too large for the batch
required.
The end of stroke (EOS) signal from the
pump is not being properly sent or inter-
preted by the controller.
The value of the analog input signal falls
outside of the minimum/maximum values
established for its use.
The emergency stop connection is wrong.
Solution
Follow the calibration procedure (section
1.c.iii).
Use an air pressure regulator in the air inlet
of the pump.
Add a foot check valve at the beginning of
the fluid inlet line, and make sure it is always
below fluid level.
Install a smaller pump.
Make sure the connection to the EOS plug
into the pump is secure.
Make sure the correct EOS has been selected
in the controller (section 1.c.v).
If using a pump with a pressure sensor, make
sure it is properly adjusted (section 1.c.v).
Verify the range provided by the external
analog input signal, and set the correct
minimum values (section 1.b.ii).
Clear the emergency stop condition.
Make sure the jumper installed on terminal
block TB2 (block 9, installation section) is
firmly inserted.
The emergency stop external button must
be "normally closed" (NC). Make sure it is,
and replace it if it isn't.
Disconnect the USB cable from controller.
Close command window in computer (if
open).
Close 'sam-ba.exe ' program, or kill it using
task manager.
Follow upload sequence again (section 3.b).
