Weighted effective value of acceleration
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration has been measured
against standard test procedures and can be used by way of comparison with
another device. The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can also
be used as a preliminary evaluation of the exposure.
CAUTION
CAUTION
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can differ during opera-
tion from the indicated value, dependent on the manner in which the device is
used. Dependent upon the actual conditions of use (periodic duty) it may be
necessary to establish safety precautions for the protection of the operator.
2. Preperations for Use
WARNING
Only use the original REMS drive unit for REMS Twist or REMS Hurrican for
safety reasons. The use of other units could lead to operator injury and tool
damage. And it voids the warranty!
If the expander insert has been removed from the expander tool, it must be
inserted by rotating it manually
manually until the fi rst threads have caught. Only then
can the drive unit be used for further rotation. Otherwise, the thread could get
damaged!

2.1. Electrical connection
WARNING
Caution: Mains voltage present! Before connecting the power tool, check
whether the voltage given on the rating plate corresponds to the mains voltage.
On building sites, in a wet environment, indoors and outdoors or under similar
installation conditions, only operate the power tool on the mains with a fault
current protection switch (FI switch) which interrupts the power supply as soon
as the leakage current to earth exceeds 30 mA for 200 ms.
2.2. Working with the expander tool
Select the expanding tool corresponding to the pipe size (fi g. 1 (1)). Plug the
expanding tool to the drive unit, making sure that the grooves if the expanding
tool engage fully in the cams of the locking ring (fi g. 2 (12)) of the drive unit.
Tighten the expanding tool with the wing nut (fi g. 1 (2)). The electric pipe
expander can be used hand-held and locally or the expanding tool is screwed
to the workbench (fi g. 5). Through-bolts with nuts or wood screws must be used
for this. Make sure that the drive unit is freely accessible and easy to operate.
The expanding too can also be clamped in the vice. The clamping height of
15 mm may not be exceeded (fi g. 6).
Preselect the speed of the drive unit on the setting wheel at the safety inching
switch (fi g. 2 (6)) according to the table.
2.3. Working with extracting tools
Fix counter holder (fi g. 7 (10)) to the drive unit. Make sure that the grooves if
the counter holder engage fully in the cams of the locking ring (fi g. 2 (12)) of
the drive unit.
Preselect the speed of the drive unit on the setting wheel at the safety inching
switch (fi g. 2 (6)) according to the table.
3. Operation
3.1. Working with the expander tool
Push the pipe in up to the marking (fi g. 1 (3)) and tighten well with the clamping
spindle (4). Set the drive unit to right-hand rotation (fi g. 4 (5)). Hold the drive
unit by the switch handle (fi g. 3 (11)).Set the drive unit to right-hand rotation
-1
(fi g. 3 (11)). Press the safety inching switch (fi g. 2 (6)) completely in. The
expander mandrel turns into the pipe end and widens it. At the end of the
widening, the expander insert stops in the housing. The drive unit comes to a
standstill. Release the safety inching switch immediately, set the rotation direc-
tion lever to left-hand rotation (fi g. 4 (7)) and slowly turn the expander mandrel
out of the widened end. Remove the pipe.
NOTICE
Never operate the reversing lever while the drive unit is in operation!
3.2. Working with the extractor tool
Only operate the drive unit with counter holder (fi g. 7 (10)). Make sure that the
grooves if the counter holder engage fully in the cams of the locking ring (fi g.
2 (12)) of the drive unit. Danger of injury from recoil! Fix the pipe to be widened
with a vice, e.g.chain pipe vice REMS Aquila WB (Art. No 120250). Expanded
the drill head (fi g. 7 (13)) into the hexagon holder of the drive unit. Set the pipe
diameter. Place the drill head centrally on the pipe and drill until the stop ring
of the drill head touches the pipe (fi g. 7). Remove the drill head. Insert the tool
holder (fi g. 8 (14)) into the hexagon holder (fi g. 8). Move back the prism until
the rear end is fl ush with the front edge of the hexagon holder (fi g. 10). Splay
the expander tool (fi g. 9) and insert into the bore. Close the expander tool and
insert into the tool holder (fi g. 10). Set the drive unit to left-hand rotation (fi g. 4
(7)), hold the prism and run forward slowly until it is almost touching the pipe.
Hold the drive unit tightly by the counter holder (fi g. 7 (10)) and switch handle
(fi g. 3 (11)) and press the safety inching switch (fi g. 2 (6)) in fully to make the
widening. Set the unit to right-hand rotation (fi g. 4 (5)) and let the prism run
back. Remove the extracting tool from the tool holder (right-hand rotation).
Make two cams opposite to each other with the cam tongs (fi g. 11) at the end
of the pipe that is inserted into the neck to position the pipe.
3.3. Lubricant
Lightly grease the expanding mandrels and extracting tools with the lubricant
provided (Art. No. 151240).
4. Maintenance
Notwithstanding the maintenance described below, it is recommended to send
in the power tool to an authorised REMS contract customer service workshop
for inspection and periodic testing of electrical devices at least once a year. In
Germany, such periodic testing of electrical devices should be performed in
accordance with DIN VDE 0701-0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical
equipment according to the accident prevention rules DGUV, regulation 3
"Electrical Systems and Equipment". In addition, the respective national safety
provisions, rules and regulations valid for the application site must be considered
and observed.
4.1. Maintenance
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before maintenance work!
Clean the power tool regularly especially when it has not been in use for a long
time. Clean the expander and extracting tools regularly and grease lightly with
the lubricant (Art. No. 151240).
