Impact Regulation
The intensity (number) of impacts can be smoothly regulated
using the switch (1). Gently pressing the switch starts the chisel
hammer. The number of impacts increases the more you press the
switch.
Function Switch (2)
The function switch (2) has two positions:
Cutting
For cutting:
turn the function switch (2) to the symbol.
To adjust tool position for cutting:

Tools are clamped into the fastening head (3) without the use of
a key.
Inserting a Tool
Attention! Risk of injury by electric current. Unplug the
device from the power socket before making any ad‑
justments (such as mounting or removing hand grips,
making adjustments, replacing drill bits, etc.)!
Make sure the tool shank (9) is clean and lubricate it with a lubri-
cant designed for this purpose.
When inserting a tool into the fastening head, there is no need
to push in the securing sleeve. Always slowly rotate the tool until
it clips into the guiding grooves. Then, check whether the tool is
fastened sufficiently and will not fall out of the fastening head by
slightly moving the tools axis.
When fastening the tool, be careful not to damage the rubber cov-
er (5) that protects the fastening head from dust and coarse dirt.
Immediately replace the rubber cover with a new one if it becomes
damaged!
Removing a Tool
Pull the securing sleeve (4) towards you and pull out the tool.

CVS Anti-vibration Grip

The electro-pneumatic breaker EKS 3 is equipped with an ergo-
nomic composite grip (8) that is fitted with an anti-vibration joint
at the attachment point to the gearbox. This ensures vibrations are
absorbed and prevents them from having any negative impact on
the operator's arm.

Tips for Use

Use protective glasses and ear protection.
Do not press too hard onto the drilling hammer. It will not lead to
any significant increase in its effectiveness.
Always work with the detachable handgrip (7) mounted.
Before turning the device on, check that the function switch (2) is
set to the desired mode.
Long‑term Storage
After the device has been stored for an extended period of time, it
may not operate at full capacity right from the start when in impact
drilling mode. It is a common problem caused by hardened lubri-
cant in the impact drilling mechanism. Leave the device in impact

nism warms up sufficiently.

Maintenance and Service

Attention! Risk of injury by electric current. Unplug the

‰ Always keep the air holes (11) clean.
‰ Regularly clean the plastic parts accessible from the outside
with a cloth without the use of detergents.
‰ After having used the device in demanding conditions for a
longer period of time, you should take the device for a service
inspection and thorough cleaning to a Narex authorised ser-
vice centre.
‰ The device is fitted with self-disconnecting carbon brushes. If
the brushes are worn down, the motor turns off automatically.
This prevents damaging the rotor. The carbon brushes can only
be replaced by an authorised service centre.
The device must undergo maintenance at regular intervals af‑
ter every ca 100 hours of use to guarantee good and constant
operation and long service life.
Regular maintenance involves the following steps:
‰ Cleaning the motor box, removing any sediments, dirt and
dust from the box.
‰ Cleaning the fastening hub.
‰ Checking the wear on the piston rings.
‰ Checking the wear on the carbon brushes.
‰ Replacing the grease fillings.
Attention! With the principles of protection against in‑
jury by electric current and the protection rating of the
device in mind, all maintenance and service work that
requires the removal of the machine's casing must be done
only by an authorised service centre!

Accessories

Accessories recommended for use with this device are commonly
available consumer accessories and can be purchased in shops sell-
ing electrical hand tools.

Storage

If stored packaged, the device can be stored in a dry storehouse
without heating if the temperature inside does not drop below
-5 °C.
If stored unpackaged, the device can only be stored in a dry store-
house where the temperature does not drop below +5 °C and
where there aren't any sudden changes in the temperature.

Recycling

Electrical tools, accessories and packaging should all be submitted
for reuse to prevent environmental damage.
EU countries only:
Do not put electrical tools into household waste!
In accordance with European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste elec-
trical and electronic equipment and the directive's enforcement in
national laws, unusable electrical tools must be collected for reuse/
recycling/recovery to prevent environmental damage.
