Ambient Noise Controller
These instructions are intended for installers
with specific knowledge in 100 V technology
for PA applications . Please read the instruc-
tions carefully prior to installation and keep

2 Control PICKUP LEVEL for adjusting the
interfering signal level (ambient noise)
which controls the volume of the wanted
signal
The further the control is turned up, the
higher the volume increase .
3 Control FILTER for adjusting the frequency
of the measuring filter which filters the
interfering signal
4 Control WIDTH for adjusting the quality
and thus the bandwidth of the measuring
filter:
low quality = wide bandwidth
high quality = narrow bandwidth
5 Indicating LEDs for the volume modifica-
tion of the wanted signal
6 Button "Signal Bypass"
button pressed: The wanted signal is vol-
ume-controlled by the amplifier .
not pressed: The wanted signal does not
pass through the amplifier; the amplifier
is bridged .
7 Overload LED CLIP: lights up when the
wanted signal is distorted

Note: If a 24 V voltage from an emergency
power supply unit is present at the terminals DC
POWER (11), the amplifier cannot be switched
off .

gency power supply unit
12 Jack OUTPUT for connection to the signal
input of a PA power amplifier
The volume-controlled wanted signal is
present at the jack .

2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to all relevant directives
of the EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit uses dangerous mains
•
The unit is suitable for indoor use only . Pro-
tect it against dripping water and splash
water, high air humidity and heat (admis-
sible ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C) .
•
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid,
e . g . drinking glasses, on the unit .
•
The heat being generated in the unit must
be carried off by air circulation . Therefore,
the air vents at the housing must not be
covered .
•
Do not operate the unit or immediately
disconnect the mains plug
1 . if the unit or the mains cable is visibly
damaged,
2 . if a defect might have occurred after the
unit was dropped or suffered a similar
accident,

For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use chemicals or water .
•
No guarantee claims for the unit and no li-
ability for any resulting personal damage or
material damage will be accepted if the unit
is used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not correctly connected
or operated, or if it is not repaired in an
expert way .
If the unit is to be put out of oper-
ation de finitively, take it to a local
recycling plant for a disposal which
is not harmful to the environment .
3 Applications
PA-100ANC is specially designed for applica-
tion in PA systems and controls the volume
of a wanted signal (announcements, music)
depending on the ambient noise picked up
by a separate microphone . The higher the
ambient noise, the higher the unit adjusts
the volume of the wanted signal .
4 Placing of Amplifier, Noise
Detector and Microphone
.
1) The amplifier is provided for insertion into
a rack (482 mm / 19"); however, it can also
be used as a table top unit . In any case,
air must be allowed to pass through all air
vents without obstruction so that there will
be no heat accumulation in the unit . For
installation into a rack, one rack space is
required (= 44 .45 mm) .
2) Place the noise detector (fig . 4) near the
microphone so that only a short micro-
phone cable is required . The maximum
length of the connection cable between
detector and the amplifier may be 500 m .
3) To pick up the ambient noise, an electret
microphone or a dynamic microphone is
required . The following microphones of
the product range from MONACOR are
recommended:
DM-2500, ECM-302B, ECM-10 / . . .
Align the microphone so that it only
picks up the ambient noise, if possible,
and not the wanted signal radiated by
the speakers .
