■ Flash settings
Select one of the settings below.
AUTO FLASH
The flash fires automatically when the camera
recognizes it is dark. Recommended in most
situations.
FORCED FLASH
The flash always fires regardless of the brightness of
the subject. Use this setting for backlit subjects.
SUPPRESSED FLASH
The flash does not fire even when the subject is poorly
lit. Recommended when using a flash is prohibited.
We recommend you use a tripod when it is dark.
SLOW SYNCHRO
As the flash fires with slow shutter (slow synchro) in a
dark place, the background and subject in front of it
are photographed brightly.
Note that the picture may be overexposed if you use
this setting in a bright place.
RED EYE & SLOW
This setting minimizes "red-eye", which is caused
by the flash reflecting from the retinas of portrait
subjects when you use flash in a dark place.
When you select this setting, the flash fires several
times as a pre-flash to minimize red-eye.
