FINAL CHECKS AND COMMISSIONING

Check the PMG rotates without vibrations.
Once the installed make sure that the machine has no irregularities in rotation. A poor alignment can cause vibration and
damage to components. If noise or high vibration levels are observes, recheck the mounting and check the components.
Before starting up the machine check the insulation system:
The machine must not be operate if the insulation resistance is less than 5MΩ.
In the event that after the assembly of the PMG the machine shows abnormal operation (excessive or too low voltage supply,
increase in temperature, noise, vibration), please promptly notify Marelli Service.

10. DISASSEMBLY / REMOVING THE PMG

Any disassembling or removing of the electrical connections must be carried out when the generator is
turned off. Before removing the PMG, examine the sectional views, and assembly instructions. Also,
make sure that all required measures and precautions for safe handling are taken.
Disconnect the cables from the PMG at the output of the voltage
regulator.
Remove the protections (45) on the non-drive side of the generator.
Unscrew and remove the fastening screws (110) and cover.
Loosen and remove the ring nut (100), after pulling the tab on the lock
washer (101) from the groove of the ring nut.
Then remove the rotor.
To facilitate such an operation it is possible to use the two holes in the
hub of the rotor, shown in the figure on the side, to force the exit of the
rotor itself: in particular, insert two M6x70 (or even longer) screws in
the threaded holes, screwing gradually and simultaneously; they will
lay on the stator below, thus spacing out the rotor and the stator.
WARNING: There is a high magnetic force that tends to attract the rotor towards the stator, with the risk
of sudden and uncontrollable movements of the components. It is therefore required to pay the utmost
attention when handling the components themselves, in order to avoid damage to property or injury to
people. In any case protect the hands wearing appropriate means.
Unscrew and remove the screws (106) and remove the stator, taking care not to damage the electrical connection cables
(118).
Unscrew and remove the central screw (107) fastening the PMG shaft to the shaft of the generator
Unscrew and remove the screws (105), as well as the PMG shaft (2) and flange (1)
Once all PMG components are removed, store them, making sure that they are stored in a clean environment (in particular
please pay attention preventing the rotor magnets from being covered by metal powders).

11. EXCITATION SYSTEM - SETTING

Combined regulator
The PMG is intended to be combined with an automatic voltage regulator of a type suitable for the application.
The following table shows the combination modes of the regulator, depending on the generator frame size on which the PMG is
mounted:
Generator frame size
160 ÷ 250
315 ÷ 800
For all information, instructions and wiring diagrams related to the regulators listed above, please refer to the documentation
mentioned (Technical Note).
