WARNING:
To prevent accidental starting that could cause serious
personal injury, always disconnect the engine spark plug
wire from the spark plug when assembling parts.
INSTALLING THE POWER HEAD TO THE
ATTACHMENT
See Figure 3.
WARNING:
Never install, remove, or adjust any attachment while
power head is running. Failure to stop the engine can
cause serious personal injury.
The attachment connects to the power head by means of
a coupler device.
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.
Loosen the knob on the coupler of the power head shaft.
Push in the button located on the attachment shaft. Align
the button with the guide recess on the power head coupler
and slide the two shafts together. Rotate the attachment
shaft until the button locks into the positioning hole.
NOTE: If the button does not release completely in the
positioning hole, the shafts are not locked into place.
Slightly rotate from side to side until the button is locked
into place.
Tighten the knob securely.
WARNING:
Be certain the knob is fully tightened before operating
equipment; check it periodically for tightness during use
to avoid serious personal injury.
REMOVING THE ATTACHMENT FROM THE
POWER HEAD
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.
Loosen the knob.
Push in the button and twist the shafts to remove and
separate ends.
ATTACHING THE J-HANDLE
See Figure 4.
The J-handle must be used for ensuring the best control
and maximizing operator safety when using a brush cutter.
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.
Place the bottom J-handle clamp on the drive shaft as
shown. Insert the tab on the top J-handle clamp into the
slot on the bottom J-handle clamp.
ASSEMBLY
Insert the end of the J-handle between the clamps so that
holes align and handle will be located to the operator's
left.
Push the bolt through the clamp and handle.
Install flat washer and wing nut to hold the assembly in
place.
Adjust the position of the handle.
Tighten the wing nut securely.
ATTACHING THE BRUSH CUTTER GUARD
See Figure 5.
The guard is shipped installed on these brush cutter models.
Instructions have been included for reference when changing
from string trimmer operation back to brush cutter operation.
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. With
the string head removed, place the brush cutter guard on
the gear head as shown.
Install the three hex head screws from bottom through
the guard and into the gear head.
Tighten the screws securely and torque to 40-50 in.lb.
minimum.
ATTACHING THE SHOULDER HARNESS
See Figure 6.
Connect the latch on the shoulder harness to the strap
hanger.
Adjust the strap to a comfortable position.
CONVERTING FROM BRUSH CUTTER TO
STRING TRIMMER
To convert from the brush cutter to the string trimmer, remove
the blade and brush cutter guard, attach the straight shaft
grass deflector and install the string head.
REMOVING THE TRI-ARC
CUTTER GUARD
See Figures 7 - 8.
WARNING:
Always wear heavy gloves when removing or handling
the blade. Contact with the sharp blade can result in cuts
and/or other serious personal injuries.
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.
Align the slot in the flanged washer with the slot in the
gear head.
Place the gear head locking tool through the slot in the
flanged washer and gear head.
