BOARD RESET

This procedure makes it possible to reset the microprocessor of the board in order to restart operation without having to interrupt the power
supply. The procedure must be carried out whenever a malfunction occurs.
1) Move microswitch number 8 of the "DSW1" dipswitch (ref. 11 – Fig. 1, page 72) to the "ON" position.
2) Put microswitch number 8 back in the "OFF" position, and the board is automatically reset.
IMPORTANT NOTE
• Following a board reset, it may be necessary to reconfigure the system using the CP 3100 control unit (see the section "IMPLEMEN-
TING A CONFIGURATION" of the RX 3000 system operation manual).

CONNECTIONS

CAUTION
• For connecting the unit, use only qualified and experienced personnel having sufficient technical knowledge or specific instructions for
making the connections correctly and thus preventing any electrical dangers. The information given below DOES NOT CONCERN THE
USER, who need not read it.
• Before powering up the unit, re-check that all the connections have been made correctly to ensure that there are no accidental short
circuits.
• The entire sound system must be designed and installed in compliance with the current standards and regulations regarding electrical sy-
stems.
IMPORTANT NOTES
• To prevent inductive phenomena from giving rise to hum or disturbance which could jeopardize efficient system operation, the connection
cables that transmit low level audio signals (e.g. 0 dBµ) should not be run in the vicinity of:
1) equipment that produces strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. large power transformers).
2) electrical energy conductors.
3) lines that supply speakers.
• When the connections are made using a screened cable, the sheath must be connected from only one end in order to prevent the forma-
tion of earth loops which may be a source of humming.

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

Before proceeding to connect the RB 3300 back-amplifier boards, please keep the following information in mind, as it may condition the ove-
rall creation of the system.
• The system can include a maximum of 120 A.C.U.s (120 RB 3300 back-amplifier boards).
• The A.C.U.s are divided into groups, with a maximum of 64, and are defined using a special menu of the CP 3100 control unit. The con-
nection of the groups of A.C.U.s must correspond to the definition of the groups configured on the control unit.
• Any number of "NORMAL" or "BACKUP" A.C.U.s can form a group, but the total number of units present in the system must not be mo-
re than 120.

CONNECTING THE TERMINAL STRIPS

The board incorporates a number of terminal strips (Fig. 1, pag. 72), the connections of which are described in the following sections. To fa-
cilitate connections, the terminal strips can be removed and separated from the electronic board.
CONNECTING THE POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL STRIP
The board must be supplied with three voltages: 5 Vdc, 12 Vdc, and 24 Vdc. The 5 Vdc and 24 Vdc supplies have a common earth; the 12
Vdc supply is galvanically insulated. Connect terminal strip "M2" (ref. 20 – Fig. 1, page 72) as shown in Figure 2 on page 72. The "M2" ter-
minal strips of the various boards must be connected together in parallel ("bus" connection) to make it possible to disconnect and remove
one board without interrupting the power supply of the other A.C.U.s.
IMPORTANT NOTES
• For protection against polarity inversions of the 12 Vdc power supply, the board is equipped with the "RF1" fuse resistor ( ref. 7 - Fig. 1, pa-
ge 72), which must be replaced whenever it is tripped.
• For protection against polarity inversions of the 5 Vdc power supply, the board is equipped with the "RF2" fuse resistor ( ref. 6 - Fig. 1, pa-
ge 72), which must be replaced whenever it is tripped.
• The 24 Vdc power supply is automatically protected.
• Use cables of adequate cross-section in making the connections.
