TROUBLE SHOOTING

P. PROBLEM C. CAUSE
P. General problems, some indicators do not light up.
C. The stream module has not been programmed correctly.
S. Check the data used to program the SS module with the ALCAD IPTV Web Configurator, in the Status menu.
P. The IN input tuning indicator does not light up.
C. The quality or the level of the received satellite signal is insufficient.
S. Check the quality of the satellite signal with the ALCAD IPTV software, in the DVB-S NIM Status menu, or
by measuring the BER (bit error rate) with a level meter for QPSK digital signals at the satellite signal out-
put of the last diplexing SS module. The BER measured at the input should be lower than 1E-3. If it is not,
check the installation, pointing of the antenna, and the external LNB unit. Check that the input signal level
lies within the range specified in the technical datasheet.
P. The IN input tuning indicator does not light up.
C. The programmed QPSK signal data are erroneous.
S. Check in the DVB-S NIM menu the input frequency data which has been entered, the symbol rate (S/R),
and the FEC (the correct data appear in the channel listings of the websites of the satellites).
P. The MPEG indicator does not light up.
C. The module has not been programmed.
S. Check the parameters of the input transponder.
P. The picture is black and the IN and MPEG indicators are lit up.
C. The channel may have stopped broadcasting (some channels do not broadcast 24 hours a day) or the
channel listing may have been changed.
S. Retune the transponder in the DVB-S NIM menu.
P. No picture can be seen and, in the menu of the ALCAD IPTV Web Configurator for an SS-211 module with
conditional access, the message appears Please, insert your card.
C. The CAM card is either the wrong card or has been removed.
S. Make sure that the right card for the satellite platform to which you subscribe is inserted.
P. No picture can be seen and, in the menu of the ALCAD IPTV Web Configurator for an SS-211 module with
conditional access, the message appears CAM not detected.
C. The CAM is either faulty or has been removed from the module.
S. Replace or insert the CAM, then insert the card corresponding to the satellite platform to which you subs-
cribe.
