5. Functions/Handling in operation
5.3.1 Internal memory
5.3.2 Diskette drive/
diskette change function

The saved measured values indicate signal changes and give access to previous
sequences. The large internal memory operates as a ring memory. Once this is full
then the oldest information is overwritten (first in/first out principle). This means that
the most recent data is always available.
Hints:
• If the data in the memory is required always read these using the serial interface or
remove the diskette ("Diskette function/update diskette") before changing any
setting up data.
• The data in the internal memory or on diskette is deleted and then re-written with
new data once operating parameters are changed.
Without influencing the internal memory data packages are copied in blocks (block
size 8 kByte) to the diskette (3 1/2", 1,44 MB, PC formated). A test is always run to see
if the data has been transmitted fault free to the diskette. The same is done when
storing the data to a PC using the supplied PC software package. Here the data is
available without being able to be manipulated. If required the data can be exported
to other spread sheet programme such as MS-Excel without losing the protected data
base.
Hints:
• Always use new formatted labelled diskettes. All data on a diskette is overwritten
once it is placed in the unit diskette drive.
• In normal operation the amount of diskette memory used is displayed in the top right
hand corner of the screen ("Disk.: xx %")
• Lines "-" in the diskette display means that there is no diskette in the drive.
• Before removing the diskette always select "Diskette functions/Update diskette".
The actual data block will then be finished and copied to the diskette. This makes
sure that all actual data (up to the last storage) is saved and therefore available.
• Depending on the unit set up (see "Setting up unit - Set up") a message, that may
need acknowledging, is displayed on the screen before the diskette is 100% full
indicating that the diskette will need changing.
• Update and change the diskette before changing any unit parameters as the
internal unit memory as well as the diskette data is deleted and overwritten with new
data.
• The unit remembers what data has been transferred to diskette. If the diskette has
not been changed on time (or a new diskette has not been placed in the drive) the
latest new diskette will have any available data copied to it from the internal
memory. As measured value recording has top priority this data transfer from the
internal memory to diskette could take up to 15 minutes.
