Installing bicycle handlebar
12
The pre-assembled position of the lower grip
support (1) on the shaft tube can be adjusted
towards the front or back by loosening the
clamp bolts.
For installing the upper grip support (2), first
remove the center bolt (3) and the washer from
the lower grip support. When assembling, the
upper grip support with the dual grip is placed
on the lower grip support, the right side of the
dual grip should be attached to the grip support
as closely as possible.
Bicycle Handlebar Adjustment
13
Note: handlebar is correctly adjusted when the
middle of the unit can be aligned with the
worker's body. The arms should be slightly bent
when working. In this position the upper grip
support is to be engaged in the teeth of the lower
grip support. Then tighten the center bolt (3).
Caution! Under no circumstances, is
the cable connection (throttle control
cable and stop cable) to be under
tension - engine idle may not be possible. Always
check that the idle position of the throttle on
the carburetor is free and is only moved when
accelerating. Otherwise, there is a danger of
accidents due to moving attachments.
Installing shield
14
Hold the brushcutter so that shaft is pointing
upward.
Caution! Fuel may leak out.
Lay shield with the inside out on the pre-
assembled mounting plate (1) and insert holding
plate (2). Fasten with the enclosed screws.
Note: The tab on the holding plate sticks out. It
is not inserted into the hole in the debris shield.
Insert the line cutter (3) only when using string
head and secure with the screw.
Shield setting
15
When working with the string head or Rototrim
mowing head, assemble in the lower position.
When using metal blades, assemble the shield
in the upper position.
Make certain the shield for the cutting unit is
firmly positioned and is located at the correct
point.
Use the brushcutter only with the original shield.
Use the chisel-tooth blade only with the metal
debris shield (illustration 17 - Pos. 60 12 841).
Installing and changing Attachment
16
Place the cutting attachment on the pressure
plate (8) so that cutting edges point clockwise!
Install the pressure plate (5) with the cupped
side upward. Place the nut protector (6) and turn
safety nut (7) onto the shaft.
Caution! Left hand thread - tighten
counter clockwise. Take care that all
parts are centered. Block the shaft
with the stop pin (4) and tighten nut.
Reverse procedure for disassembly.

Chisel tooth blade
When using the „chisel tooth blade", the metal
debris shield 60 12 841 should be used instead
of the plastic shield.
The following parts are to be disassembled, prior
to installation: The safety nut (7) (left-hand
thread!), the nut protector (6) and pressure plate
(5). Use pin (4) to block.
Place the cutting attachment on the pressure
plate (8). Observe rotation direction. Mount
cupped side of pressure plate (5) upwards. Posi-
tion nut protector (6). Turn safety nut (7) counter
clockwise onto shaft. Assure that all parts are
centered. Block shaft with pin (4) and tighten
nut.
Reverse procedure for disassembly.
Caution! It is imperative that the
safety nut (7) is replaced, if it has
become loose due to frequent rem
oval and tightening.
Turn off the engine and remove spark plug cap
when changing the cutting attachments.
