2.2 Use
The engine-speed measuring module ETT 223 is designed for
non-contact measurement of speeds. The module can be used
for vehicles with four-stroke and two-stroke spark-ignition engi-
nes and rotary-piston engines.
The engine-speed measuring module can be used as a stand-
alone device or as an additional or upstream unit in conjunction
with engine diagnostic systems.
2.3 User groups
The ETT 223 has been designed for trained personnel in the
automotive industry. Please read the information in the operating
instructions carefully in order to ensure your own safety and to
prevent damage to the equipment due to improper use.
2.4 Operating software
Although programming, assembly and testing are performed with
the maximum care, no liability can be assumed for the correctness
of the operating software.
In addition, liability for consequential damage is excluded.
3. Description of the unit
3.1 Functional description
he engine-speed measuring module ETT 223 is used for non-
contact speed measurement, e.g. on encapsulated engines.
If the module is used as an additional or upstream unit in
conjunction with an engine diagnostic system, the interface
connection is made using the 12 V pulse voltage (12 V pulse
output, 1 pulse/720° CS) or trigger clamp-on pickup.
