Connecting the monitor

Note: If you need to
disconnect the power
cord from the wall
socket or monitor for
any reason, be sure
to wait at least 30
seconds between the
time you turn off the
monitor and the time
you unplug it. Wait-
ing 30 seconds al-
lows the monitor to
discharge any static
electricity from its
screen surface.

Your Vivitron 700 monitor comes with a power cord; it
is important that you use this cord with your monitor
so that the monitor conforms to mandatory FCC stan-
dards. Be sure you have the correct power cord for
your home or office power supply.
After you have turned the power on for the monitor, it
is important to remember that the monitor is demag-
netizing itself for about the first 5 seconds. During this
time, it is generating a strong magnetic field that can
erase or seriously affect data stored on magnetic tape
or disks located near the monitor. To avoid any prob-
lems with stored data, keep all disks and magnetic
tapes away from the monitor.
To set up the Vivitron 700:
1. Be sure the power to both the computer and moni-
tor is switched off. The Vivitron 700 power switch
is on the lower right corner on the front of the
monitor.
2. Connect the female end of the power cable to the
power receptacle on the back panel of the monitor,
and the other end to a grounded 120 or 240 VAC
outlet.
3. Connect the video signal cable to the matching
video output receptacle on the rear panel of the
computer. Secure the connection with the screws
on the connectors.
