EN 1731:2006
The mesh face shield 5120912 has a total weight of only 220 g. The user can adjust the face shield for an optimum ft on their
head by adjusting the length of the straps provided on the harness: vertical strap (3), (pins to be inserted into corresponding
holes) and horizontal strap (4), by rotating the rear knob (5).
The length of the strap can be adjusted with the face shield fitted using a graduated knob on the rear, which acts on two rack
segments. The mesh shield element code 1093046 can be adjusted vertically to about 180°, allowing the operator to raise or
lower the shield when required without removing the entire PPE assembly from their head The face shield is equipped with lateral
shield-fixing friction devices, which enable the resistance of the backward tilting movement to be adjusted. If this adjustment is
made correctly, the face shield cannot be involuntarily removed from the user's head, in the expected conditions of use, owing
to sudden sideways or upward movements. Before employing the face-shield, the user must therefore:
- Assemble the device as follows:
• Rotate the pins (2) by 90° until they reach the vertical position
• Insert the shield element (1)
• Rotate the pins (2) by 90° until they reach the horizontal position, ensuring that the shield element is correctly fastened
- Adjust the length of the harness straps, as specified above
- Adjust the tightness of the flip-back motion of the shield using the two lateral friction devices (6), so that the shield cannot be
inadvertently raised during the envisaged working conditions yet can be raised easily when desired, with no change in the fit.
The face-shield should be stored in an environment free of organic vapours, at a temperature between +5° and +30°C. To avoid
damage during transport and handling, we recommend keeping the face-shield in its original packaging.
To clean and disinfect, wipe with soft anti-scratch cloths or fabric using any conventional disinfectant cleaning product for optical
care. DO NOT USE SOLVENTS.
The mesh face-shield 5120912 complies with the requirements of EN 1731:2006 for protection from mechanical hazards.
The mesh face-shield is generally worn to protect the user's eyes during garden work.
The mesh face-shield provides adequate protection of the user's eye area against accidental impact from obstacles potentially
present in the work area, which may be small objects no heavier than 0.8 g projected at a speed of no higher than 12 m/s or
objects no heavier than 40 g falling at a speed of no higher than 5.1 m/s (protection code S)
Mesh face shields marked with the letter S must not be used to protect against the risk of hard or sharp particles being projected
(for example when using brush cutters, blowers and edge trimmers); should such a risk be foreseen, additional eye protection
must be worn, such as safety goggles meeting the requirements of EN 166:2001. If the cleaning instructions described above
are followed, the mesh face shield should not be subject to excessive wear under normal working conditions. Replace the mesh
face-shield if surface damage like grooves, cuts or dents is visible. The device should also be replaced after every significant
impact. The face-shield 5120912 may use for spare parts only the original parts supplied by TECOMEC for the protection class
indicated above.
Use only the mesh shield element code 1093046 as a spare part. To replace the shield element, proceed as specified above
for the assembly procedure. Replace the complete device within no more than five years of normal use. The mesh face-shield
5120912 carries CE marking, the meaning and description of which is given below:

N.B.: The shield support carries a dual marking as it is a common element for two different PPE devices: a mesh face-shield
and a polycarbonate face-shield; in this case, the reference marking is the one given above.
Mesh face-shields do not provide protection against liquid spray (including molten metal), red-hot solids, electrical hazards,
infra-red or ultraviolet radiation. Materials in contact with the user's skin may cause allergic reactions in some highly sensitive
individuals. The packaging and device must be disposed of in compliance with applicable legislation at the end of their useful
lifetime. The certification procedure provided for by Article 10 of Directive 89/686/EEC has been carried out by CERTOTTICA,
Istituto italiano per la certificazione dei prodotti ottici Scrl, Zona industriale Villanova, I-32013 Longarone (BL) Italy, a notified
body registered with the European Commission (ID code 0530).
