6.3 Pressure increase
(charging/initial charging)
NOTICE
To recharge a hydro accumulator, always
follow the work steps in section 5.2.
An accumulator is also recharged in steps:
1. Step
1 ‑ 2 bar
2. Step
2 ‑ 3 bar
3. Step
desired pre‑charge pressure (p
CAREFULLY OPEN the shut‑off valve on the
pressure‑increase system. The start pressure
on the pressure-increase system is displayed.
This corresponds to the display of the pressure
gauge on FPU‑2 (Start pressure = current
pressure in accumulator).
NOTICE
We recommend selecting a 10 % higher
accumulator pre‑charge (p
compensate for the influence in temperature.
– Interrupt the charging process from time to
time by means of the pressure‑increase
system in order to read the achieved
pre‑charge pressure (p
– Repeat this process until the required
pre‑charge (p
) pressure is reached. Once
0
the temperature has equalised, re‑check the
pre‑charge pressure (p
necessary.
6.4 Pressure reduction
(pressure relieve)
– The release valve (B) is opened slowly.
The nitrogen is released into the
atmosphere.
6.5 Finishing
– On bladder accumulators, close the gas
valve insert (E) in the hydraulic accumulator
by rotating the spindle (A) anti-clockwise.
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators,
close the allen screw (P) in the hydraulic
accumulator by rotating the spindle (A)
clockwise.
– Switch off the pressure‑increase system.
– Reduce pressure in the, charging hose and
FPU‑2 via the unloading valve (B) of the
FPU‑2.
– Remove the charging hose from the FPU‑2.

– Loosen the cap nut (D) and remove the
FPU‑2 from the accumulator.
– On bladder accumulators, unscrew adapter
A3H and insert the O‑ring (O) again. Check
the tightness of the gas valve using leak
detection spray.
Screw and firmly tighten the seal cap (H)
onto the accumulator gas valve (30 Nm).
Manually screw on protection cap (S).
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators,
firmly tighten the allen screw (P) with an
allen key SW6, DIN ISO 2936 (20 Nm).
Check the tightness of the allen screw using
leak detection spray.
Screw and firmly tighten the seal cap (S) on
to the allen screw (20 Nm).
7. Disposal
Disassemble the hydraulic accumulator into its
constituent parts and dispose of them
according to material type.
