4.7 Installation
Piston accumulators can be installed in any
position. However, the vertical position with the
gas charging connection at the top is required
for certain position indicating systems.
Irrespective of the installation position, the
marking on the hydraulic accumulator as
shown on the type code label or accumulator
shell must be accessible and legible.
Allow an area of approximately
150 mm x 150 mm above the gas charging
connection for fitting the charging unit.
4.8 Earthing
The piston accumulator must be earthed.
4.9 Mounting
The piston accumulator must be installed
securely to withstand vibrations during
operation or any break in the connection lines.
Also, the mounting elements must not exert
stress in any form on the piston accumulator.
For suitable clamps and consoles please refer
to the brochure:
"Supports for Hydraulic Accumulators"
No. 3.502
4.10 General
For further technical details please refer to the
following brochures:

5. Maintenance
5.1 Basic maintenance
instructions
In order to ensure long and trouble-free
operation, the following maintenance
procedures must be carried out regularly:
– Test the hydraulic accumulator pre-charge
pressure (p
)
0
– Check that connections are tight and
leak-free
– Check the valves and safety equipment for
correct operation
– Check the mounting elements
– If the hydraulic accumulator is operated fast
and continuously, check for oil transfer into
the gas side after a few months
NOTICE
The current regulations for repeat testing in
the country concerned must be observed.
5.2 Pre-charge pressure testing
frequency
It is recommended that the following testing
frequencies be maintained:
– after each installation
– one week after installation
– eight weeks after installation
If no significant gas loss is detected, the future
test intervals can be carried out once per year.
NOTICE
Continuous operation at high operating
temperatures requires more frequent testing.
The nominal values of the pre-charge
pressure (p
) are based on a charging
0
temperature of 20 °C.
