Care shall be taken to ensure that any opening parts on the product, e.g. barriers,
doors etc. are closed again after use.
6.7
It is not permitted to climb on or lean against the handrail.
6.8
The product shall only be ascended from the front, and the user shall hold the handrail
by at least one hand.
6.9
Ascending the rear or the side, and overhangs, are prohibited.
6.10 Wear suitable work clothes (correct footwear).
6.11 Ensure that access is clear. The ascent and descent may not be blocked with tools or
materials.
6.12 It is only permitted to use the product when in perfect health. Use under the influence
of medication, alcohol or drugs is not permitted.
6.13 Take care before using the product that
there is nothing to prejudice stability (e.g. pedestrians, vehicles etc.)
in the vicinity. Doors and windows (with the exception of emergency exits) should be
locked, or at least have a warning notice affixed, during work.
6.14 The product may not be brought into position from above.
6.15 All brakes (where fitted) shall be applied and the stability shall be checked before use of the product.
6.16 Where the product's height may be adjusted on a spindle, the product can be brought to the desired height
with the spindle crank before ascent. Secure the mechanism so that the product can be ascended safely (see
instructions for use of spindle). The platform shall be retracted back to the closed position (lowest position)
after use.

Maintenance/inspection
The product shall be serviced and inspected by specialist personnel on a regular basis:
Before assembly, check whether all the parts of a knocked-down product are present.
The product shall be inspected after initial assembly and before first use.
The product shall be inspected for visible damage at least once per year. The inspection intervals shall be
shortened accordingly for continuous use or the constant effect of various ambient influences (e.g. winter,
coastal climate etc.).
The date of the next inspection shall be affixed to the product at a position easily visible to the user.

The product shall be inspected for possible damage such as bends, dents, cracks etc.
Moveable parts shall be serviced properly (e.g. ensure that they are properly lubricated). Take care to
ensure that no grease gets on the platforms or steps.
Inspect welds for cracking or fractures.
Check fasteners such as wall plugs, screws, rivets etc. for damage and correct seating.
Repair or replacement of a damaged component is only permitted following consultation with the
manufacturer.
Any spindle drive on the project shall be serviced separately in accordance with the operating instructions
provided.
