1 – pipe planer
• Move the pipe planer uniformly back and forth.
– The bottom side of the pipe planer has to be parallel to the pipe surface.
– The chips have to be thin and even. Avoid chatter marks. If necessary, adjust the blade of the pipe planer in such way
that only a small part of it protrudes from the planer (< 1 mm).
– If present, completely remove the paint layer.
– The length of the surface to be evened is 2l where l is the length of the pipe contact surface of the coupling plate, see
Fig. 4.46 and Fig. 4.47. The surface has to be even.
• Remove the pipe planer. The unevenness has to be significantly smaller than the thickness of the metallic coupling foil.
• Repeat the steps for the second pipe mounting fixture.
