Product description and intended use

IBW is an interface with Solemyo Air Net System radio technology by Nice and it is
compatible exclusively with devices that adopt this technology (fig. 1). It uses Nice's
"BlueBUS" communication protocol and connects via wire to a Nice control unit hav-
ing the same protocol and used to control and monitor the automation of a gate,
garage door or similar barriers.
In the networks with the BlueBUS protocol, the IBW interface allows you to extend a
network that is already wired or create a new network made up of accessories hav-
ing Solemyo Air Net System radio technology that is powered by battery or photo-
voltaic cells using bidirectional radio communication to connect them to the
automation control unit without using electrical wires. These accessories (not includ-
ed in the package, are PHW photocells, flashing signals/LLW courtesy lights, and
TCW1 / TCW2 sensors to be connected to the resistive or photo-optic sensitive
edges. The IBW interface and these devices together make up a BlueBUS wireless
communication network,. For more details on the outfit and operation of a hardwired
BlueBUS network, see the manual for the automation control unit.
The IBW interface is connected to the control unit via wire to the BlueBUS terminal
and controls the operation of the entire network of accessories. If one or more LLW
devices are used as flashing signals, the interface must also be connected "Flash"
terminal. In short, the IBW is a device that "translates" messages that travel by wire
into messages transmitted via radio and vice versa and allows the BlueBUS system
to recognize the devices connected in wireless mode as though they were connect-
ed by wire. It is also possible to create a mixed BlueBUS network, i.e. made up of
traditional devices that are hardwired to the bus wire (and connected to the control
unit via this cable), and "wireless" devices connected via radio to the BlueBUS inter-
face (and connected to the control unit by means of this interface).
All uses other than the intended use described and/or in environmental condi-
tions other than those described in this manual shall be considered improper
and prohibited!

Preliminary checks before installation and

limitations on use
Before installing the system, you must evaluate certain aspects regarding its operat-
ing principle in order to obtain maximum safety and functionality.
• Alone the IBW interface is not a complete wireless connection system but only
part of one. Therefore, in order to be able to use it you must combine it to at least
one of the wireless accessories mentioned in section 2.
• Make sure the conditions in which the devices are to be used are compatible with
the specifications given in their respective instruction manuals (section "Technical
characteristics"). In the event of doubt, do not use the devices; ask for clarifications
from Nice's Technical Service Department.
• Make sure the area surrounding the automation system has no ongoing radio inter-
ferences. Such interferences could disturb and alter system operation.
3.1 - Limitations on use
• The IBW interface shall be installed exclusively in areas protected from the effects
of water, humidity and/or dust.
• The IBW interface can be connected exclusively to a control unit that is compatible
with Nice's BlueBUS communication protocol.
• The IBW interface and devices connected to it do not ensure optimal operation
with control units that work with radio communications on the of 868 MHz band.
• The LLW, PHW and TCW2 devices integrate a cell for photovoltaic power that
requires it to be installed outdoors where the cell can receive direct light from the
sun for most of the day. Attention! – It is preferable to install each device in a favor-
able position for receiving sunlight, i.e. far from objects or situations that might con-
siderably shade the solar cell all day long.
• The maximum number of accessories that can be connected to a control unit
depends on the technical characteristics of the BlueBUS in the central control unit.
In any case it is not possible to have more than 20 units.
• Additional limitations on use are contained in the section "Technical characteris-
tics".
