11 Recommendations for perfect
sterilisation
The material to be sterilised must be perfectly clean, free from any
encrusted or residual material. We recommend to wash it with a good
detergent and distilled water and after that, rinse with plenty of water.
Do not overload the baskets, the trays or the grids, trying to leave always a
space of 1 or 2 cm between them, allowing a free way for vapour and easy
drying.
11.1 Instruments sterilisation in bulk:
Place the items over the water resisting paper leaving a space in between
them.
Do not place different kind of material instruments in the same tray.
11.2 Instrument sterilisation in bags:
There must not be more than one instrument per bag.
Place the bags over the water resisting paper, in a vertical position, in a way
they do not touch each other neither the autoclave walls.
11.3 Tubes sterilisation:
Tubes must be perfectly clean, rinsed and drained. Place the tubes, if
possible open on both ends.
Try the tubes not to touch the autoclave walls nor block the inner diameter.
11.4 Vessels sterilisation:
Never place the vessels hermetically sealed.
Place them face downwards to avoid any residual water left inside.
11.5 Liquids sterilisation:
Place the liquids to be sterilised over the trays in prepared containers to
withstand sterilisation temperature, so one can pick any possible spillages.
The containers will be fullfilled about 2/3 of its capacity. DO NOT SEAL THEM
HERMETICALLY. Just close them with a cotton or without anything to let the
containers air pressure release.
Try to avoid using narrow neck containers.
When finishing the sterilisation cycle, let the autoclave cool down slowly (till
pressure is 0 kg/cm²).
