3.2 DESCRIPTION OF THE PUMP

HPP S.r.l
The pumps are built with high quality materials, worked and
processed by technologically advanced machines. The pumps consist of
three basic parts:
- Mechanical part
- Pumping part
- Hydraulic part
A. The Mechanical part consists of a cast iron body inside which the
following are housed:
- Crankshaft made from the solid part.
- Roller bearings.
- Connecting rods with high mechanical resistance and high load capacity.
- Guide pistons in stainless steel.
Oil splash lubrication is used for the whole unit.
B. The Pumping part consists of:
- Ceramic integral pumping elements
- High quality, long-life pressure seals
- Stainless steel seal supports
C. The hydraulic part consists of:
- Nickel-coated head with intake and delivery.
- Easy-to-inspect intake/delivery valves in stainless steel.

3.2.1 Operation

The positive-displacement pump requires a source of energy able to supply
the energetic increase necessary for the fluid and to drive the whole crank
mechanism and any other auxiliaries.
The main energy sources for this type of pump are electric motors and
internal combustion endothermic engines.
When the pump is on, the reciprocating motion of these pistons creates
vacuum inside the cylinder - during descent (intake) – which opens the
intake valves and brings the fluid back inside it; during ascent
(compression) an overpressure is created that opens the delivery valves and
evacuates the fluid outside.
These pumps normally feature several pistons to meet the flow rate and
regularity requirements of the outgoing fluid.
